All updates must be made on both ECDIS computers separately, and only when
they are in SINGLE mode.

To make a unit in SINGLE mode:

1.On the computer which is currently MASTER mode: right click on top of
MASTER and you should see the Initial Settings panel.

2.Check Mode box and then change the status of the ECDIS to SINGLE. Now both
ECDIS computers should be in SINGLE mode.

This procedure will generate " JeppesenPRIMAR_Furuno eT 33282.ord" or "

JeppesenPRIMAR_Furuno eT 33238.ord" files the numbers represent for which
ECDIS is the ORD file. This two files + the file generated from OceanView must
be sent via e-mail.

Don't forget to update OceanView in Captain's office ChartCo computer. Usually

after updating the Databse next weekly update consists of large number of update
fails for each ECDIS.

ORDERING / LOADING LICENSES

If you don't have ENC that you need for the voyage you need to order the license
for it in order to see it. To do this u need to make a small route on ECDIS of what
you can't see and you need. When you save the route to the Flash Drive it will be in
special "xxxxx.txt" Furuno format. You need to convert this file on OceanView to
"xxxxx.route" file. Give this file to Captain, he will send it to the company. If ENC
is available for that region they will send you the licenses for the ENC that you
need , if not you need to order the appropriate paper charts.

When you receive the licenses you must apply them on both ECDIS computers
separately, and only when they are in SINGLE mode. Also on OceanView
Computer.

ECDIS OPERATIONS

I. HOW TO CREATE A ROUTE

1.PLAN

2.FM ROUTE PLAN PANNEL "CREATE"

3.ENTER THE NAME OF THE NEW ROUTE AND PRESS "OK"

The new route doesn't have any WPs to edit the route you must check the "Enable
Changes" checkbox. Now you can start putting WPs on the ECDIS. Some things
that I found useful : you can import WPs from any route you have already created
to the one you are editing. This is done by "Import", next you choose the route ,
starting WP and how many WP you wish to import. You can also choose to put the
WP in Direct or Reverse way. Another thing is that you can see only 2 routes on
this ECDIS , the one that is monitored and the one that is planned. So you can
choose to monitor a route from which you need some WPs and plan on top of it
with the other route, I recommend you do this when both ECDIS are on Single
mode so you can use the one fwd as navigational and the one aft as planning.

II.HOW TO MONITOR ROUTE

1.PLAN
2.ON THE LOWER LEFT CORNER ON THE WINDOW THERE IS AN
ARROW IF YOU PUT THE POINTER ON TOP OF IT THE WINDOW ROUTE
PLAN WILL APPEAR

3."SELECT" AND CHOOSE THE ROUTE YOU WANT TO MINOTOR

4.WHEN THE ROUTE IS LOADED READY FOR PLANNING PRESS

EXCHANGE WITH MONITOR AND THE ECDIS WILL START
MONITORING THE ROUTE

III.HOW TO MAKE MANUAL UPDATES

I use the ECDIS function Manual Updates to display information which you could
usually chart on the paper charts such as: Navigational Warnings, NGA,
Contingency Anchorages, SECA/ECA, VHF sectors, HRA. This is very useful
function, made very hard on this ECDIS and you will get frustrated most probably
in the beginning. To start:

1.MENU

2.CHART MENU

3MANUAL UPDATES

4.PLANNING

5.NEW

6.IN THE "NEW OBJECT" MENU THERE ARE 3 TIPES OF DRAWINGS:

POINT, LINE AND AREA.

7.CATEGORY MUST BE SET TO SINGLE!!

8.YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE WHAT OBJECT YOU LIKE. AS AN EXAMPLE

LETS CHOOSE AREA, SINGLE, MILITARY PRACTICE AREA.

9."ACCEPT NEW OBJECT", THIS WILL TRANSFER THER OJECT TO THE

LIST

10.EDIT PROPERTIES
11.EDIT POSITION

12.ON THE "POSITION EDIT" WINDOW "CURSOR" MUST BE SET TO

"INSERT POINT"

13.PUT AS MANY POINTS ON THE ECDIS AS YOU NEED, IT DOSN'T

MATTER WHERE

14.YOU CAN NOW EDIT THE POSITON OF EACH POINT BY LAT: AND
LONG:

15.WHEN YOU FINISH WITH EDITING THE POSITIONS IN THE

"POSITION EDIT" WINDOW "ACCEPT

16.EDIT PROPERTIES AND VALUES - YOU WILL SEE 2 WINDOWS ON

THE RIGHT ONE CHOOSE SOME CATEGORIES LIKE INFORMATION,
OBJECT NAME ECT. THEY WILL APEAR IN THE LEFT WINDOW. NOW
CLICL ON THEM AND YOU CAN EDIT THEM. WHEN YOU FINISH "
ACCEPT LIST AND VALUES"

17.NOW CLICK ACCEPT

18.ACCEPT MANUAL UPDATES AS PERMANENT

As I said it's too complicated but there in no other way to display information on
the ECDIS. Some of the objects don't work, the ones I'm know that work are
military practice area, from line : LOP(line of position), from point (danger).

To DELETE an Object from MANUAL UPDATES

1.MENU

2.CHART MENU

3.MANUAL UPDATES

4.PLANNING

5.DELETE
6.CLICK ON THE OBJECT YOU NEED TO DELETE. COITION YOU CAN
DELETE OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE ECDIS SO BE
CAREFUL!!! YOU MUST DELET ONLY OBJECT THAT YOU HAVE
CREATED!!!

7.ACCEPT

8.ACCEPT MANUAL UPDATES AS PERMANENT

IV.HOW TO MAKE NOTES

What I use the notes for is to display where to open and close the overboard valves,
this is a requirement of Captan, should be more then 12nm from shore and for
China more then 24nm. They can also be used to display reports, VHF channels,
ect.

1.MENU

2.NOTES

3.PLAN

4.ENABLE CHANGES

5.CLICK TO INSERT THE POINT SOMEWHERE ON THE ECDIS

6.YOU CAN EDIT THE POSITION, AND INFORMATION

7.IN THE NOTES WINDOW "GO MONITOR MODE"

8.MOVE PLAN TO MONITOR

You will have difficulties to use them in the beginning, just have in mind that they
are the same as ROUTES, the idea is the same, you can edit the positions and
information.
