TOPIC: Re-orientation on 2023 SIGA-Adopt-A-School-Program of DepEd

VI- INTRODUCTION

The School Inside a Garden (SIGA) was first introduced by the Department of
Education Culture and Sports (now DepEd-Department of Education) in the year
1995 through DECS Memorandum No. 77, s. 1995. It was initiated to support the
national goal for a “Clean and Green” society. The focus back then was to grow
flowers, medicinal herbs, exotic and fruit-bearing trees. Through this program,
learners were given an opportunity to care for plants, flowers, and trees. This will not
only provide shade and color to campuses but will also support one of DepEd’s core
values which is being “Makakalikasan”.

In addition, DepEd, through the Adopt-A-School Program (ASP), sincerely

invites all members of private entities to accept our offer of active partnership in the
noble goal of educating all Filipinos. Education is the key to national growth.

VII- ACCOMPLISHMENT / ACTIVITY

Today’s session handled by Mrs. Nenita M. Lumokso, the School SIGA

Coordinator together with SELG Coordinator, Mrs. Rozenie R. Delos Reyes, was all
about the implementation of SIGA and Adopt-A-School Program of DepEd. It
discusses the different ways on how to effectively relate with others and the
importance of respecting individual differences. This will help the pupils appreciate
the value of having positive relationships.

The facilitator facilitated the session through powerpoint presentation and

presented the topics about SIGA, GPP, and Adopt- A- School programs.
After the presentation of the topic, teachers had a discussion followed by
plans on the activities to be made for the SIGA and GPP area of the school. The
teachers decided to have Pahina so that the said programs will be implemented the
sooner possible.

VIII- PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED

 The SIGA and GPP area were not maintained because of overlapping
activities and schedules.

IX- SOLUTIONS IDENTIFIED

 HPTA Meetings and pahina were made so as to make the activities and
the program implemented.

X- RECOMMENDATION
Lumbal ES staffs recommend having this session so that teachers
will also be informed about programs that lend support and complement
the National Greening Program. Contributing for the greater good of
mother nature while letting children learn is a win-win situation for all
humankind.
