Formula for determining weight of Poly bags

(W” x L” x GA)/15 = Wt per M bags

Weight in Kgs. /1000 Pcs = Width (W) in inches X Length (L) in inches x Guage (GA)

_____________________________________________

3300 constant.

Note: 3300 is a constant number for 1000 pcs

Eg

A PP bag having 17” width, 30” Length, 180 Guage, consisting of self adhesive tape . Cost of PP is 90
Rs/Kg.

Weight of Material -= Length (L) in inches x Width (W) in inches X Guage (G)

_____________________________________________

3300 constant.

= (30 x 17 x 180)/3300

= 91800/3300

= 27.81 kg/1000 pcs.

Cost of Material (PP) = Rs 90/Kg so 27.81 x 90 = 2502.9/1000 pcs.

Cost of 1 Poly bag = 2.50

In general 3 units of measurement will be used for polybags

1. 1 mil = 0.001 inch read as (1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch)

OR
(1000 mil = 1 inch)
2. 1 mil = 25.4 microns OR
3. 25.4 microns = 1 mil.)
4. 1 microns = 1/1000 of a mm
5. 1 Guage = 0.00001 inch (1 Gauge = 1/1,00,000 of an inch) Read as 1 lac of an inch

So conversion = 1 mil = 25 microns = 100 Guage.

1 Micron = one-millionth of a meter, or one thousandth of a millimeter. 25.4 µm =

0.001 inches (1 mil).

Micron – Micrometer.

1 Micron = one-millionth of a meter, or one thousandth of a millimeter. 25.4 µm =

0.001 inches (1 mil).

Thickness: Usually, three different ways can be used to count poly bag
thickness.
1) Mil
2) Microns
3) Gauge

1. Mil: Mil is recognized as thousands of an inch. One mil means the

thickness is of 1/1000 of an inch.
2. Micron: Micron is 1/1000 of an M.M
3. Gauge: It is globally recognized system for counting poly bag thickness.
One gauge is equal to 1/100000 of an inch. So, one mil is equal to 100
Gauge.
4. Conversion: 1 mil = 25 microns = 100 Gauge.
