1 Objective

Minimize variations and standardize on more robust design that facilitates use with
expeller seals, mechanical seals and larger motors.
Summary

• GIW will no longer deliver new 35 mm LCC bearing assemblies. Change will start
with the transition from back to back (TDO) to face to face (TDI) bearing
assemblies. Transition is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.

• The 35 mm units will be replaced with 50 mm units. Therefore, shaft sleeve, stuffing
box assembly and impeller thread size will be affected.

• With exception of bearing housings and shafts, component parts for 35 mm face to
face (TDI) bearing assemblies will remain available for ten years.

• If bearing housing or shaft is damaged, directive will be to use larger 50 mm face to

face (TDI) bearing assembly.

• GIW will inactivate all pump assemblies that contain 35 mm bearing assemblies.
