LEVEL 1 LESSON 14

洗手间在哪？ (xǐshǒujiān zàinǎ) = Where is the bathroom?

在哪？ (zàinǎ) = Where is it?

去哪？ (qùnǎ) = Where to go?

今天你去哪 (jīntiān nǐ qùnǎ) = Where are you going today?

明年你去哪旅游？(míngnián nǐ qù nǎ lǚyóu)= Where are you going to travel next year?

上下左右 (shàng xìa zuǒ yòu)= up, down, left, right

上车 (shàngchē) = get on a car or get on a bus

下车 (xiàchē) = get off a car or a bus

上山 (shàngshān) = climb mountain/hill

下山 (xiàshān) = get down a hill/mountain

上学 (shàngxué) = go to school

哥哥今年上学 (gēge jīnnián shàngxué) = This year my older brother will go to school

上班 (shàngbān) = go to work

爸爸上班去了 (bāba shàngbān qùle) = Dad went to work

下班 (xiàbān) = get off from work

我下午五点半下班。(wǒ xiàwǔ wǔdiǎnbàn xiànbān) = I get off from work at 5:30pm

左转 (zuǒzhuǎn) = Turn left

右转 (yòuzhuǎn) = Turn right

左面 (zuǒmiàn) = left side

洗手间左面 (xǐshǒujiān zuǒmiàn) = on the left of the restroom

洗手间的左面 (xǐshǒujiānde zuǒmiàn)= on the left of the restroom

右面 (yòumiàn) = right side

 洗手间右面 (xǐshǒujiān yòumiàn)， 洗手间的右面 (xǐshǒujiānde yòumiàn) =

on the right side of the restroom

旁边 (pángbiān) = next to

电脑旁边 (diànnǎo pángbiān) = next to computer

我旁边有麦当劳 (wǒ pángbiān yǒu màidāngláo) = there is a McDonald's next to me

前 (qián), 后 (hòu) = front, behind

洗手间在前面还是后面 (xǐshǒujiān zài qiánmiàn háishì hòumiàn) = is the restroom ahead or behind

前年 (qiánnián) = 2 years ago

前年我去了巴西 (qiánnián wǒ qùle bāxī) = I went to Brazil two years ago

后年 (hòunián) = 2 years later

前天 (qiántiān) = the day before yesterday

后天 (hòutiān) = the day after tomorrow

后天我去看电影 (hòutiān wǒ qù kàn diànyǐng) =

I'm going to watch movie the day after tomorrow

Dialogue 1: A: 你好，请问洗手间在哪？(nǐhǎo, qǐngwèn xǐshǒujiān zàinǎ) =

Hello, excuse me where's the bathroom?

B: 对不起，什么？(duìbuqǐ, shénme)

I'm sorry, what?

A: 前面有洗手间吗？(qiánmiàn yǒu xǐshǒujiānma?)

Is there a bathroom ahead?

B: 有。前面左转，麦当劳旁边

(yǒu. qiánmiàn zuǒzhuǎn, màidāngláo pángbiān) =

Yes there is. Ahead turn left, next to McDonald’s.

A: 麦当劳左边还是右边？(màidāngláo zuǒbiān háishì yòubiān) =

The left side or right side of McDonald’s.

 B: 麦当劳右边。麦当劳也有洗手间。

(màdānláo yòubiān. màidāngláo yě yǒu xǐshǒujiān.) =

McDonald's right side. McDonald's also have a bathroom.

A: 谢谢，再见！(xièxiè, zàijiàn)

Thank you, bye!

Dialogue 2: A: Rose,你去哪? (nǐ qù nǎ) =

Rose, where you going?

B: 我去上学，Jason 你呢？(wǒ qù shàngxué, Jason nǐne)

I'm going to go to school, what about you Jason?

A: 我去上班，你学什么？(wǒ qù shàngbān, nǐ xué shénme)

I'm going to work, what are you studying?

B: 我学中文。你在哪工作？(wǒ xué zhōngwén. nǐ zài nǎ gōngzuò)

I'm studying Chinese. Where do you work?

A: 我在电视台工作。后天我们去看电影吧。

(wǒ zài diànshìtái gōngzuò. hòutiān wǒmen qù kān diànyǐng ba)

I work at a TV station. The day after tomorrow let's watch a movie.

B: 电影院在哪？(diànyǐngyuàn zài nǎ)

Where is the movie theater?

A: 在Taco Bell 后面。 (zài Taco Bell hòumiàn)

Its behind Taco Bell.

B: 好。(hǎo)

Ok.
