Butterflies are insects with coloured wings .They are found almost all over the world .Some butterflies live their
whole lives in in one place. Others migrate long distances to escape cold winters.

A butterfly begins life as an egg which hatches into a caterpillar. When caterpillar is fully grown , it becomes a pupa.
Inside the hard shell of the pupa ,the caterpillar changes into a butterfly. After a while
,the adult butterfly breaks out of the shell.

Each butterfly lives mainly on its own, flying from flower to flower to find food. Butterflies only come together to
mate and to migrate.

A butterfly unroll its long tongue and uses it to suck the sugary juice made by flowers.The juice is called nectar.
