Beyond our coastlines, a plethora of literary treasures is celebrated. Literature also

plays a significant role in shaping communities and cultures from across the world. These
literary texts are the results of the advancements human civilization had made and
benefitted with, and an indication of how far we still have to go. Through understanding the
various representative texts and authors from around the world, we foster a deeper
intercultural understanding and a fervent love for literature.

MAIN ACTIVITY
INSTRUCTIONS: Using a table, give three (3) 21st century writers who had/has continued to
contribute to literatures in their respective continental regions: Asia,
Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania. Cite their most
known contributions as well.

ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose and answer any of the alternative activities given below.

A. List down ten (10) figures of speech and cite examples from literary works under 21st
century world literature.
B. Using a table, give five (5) literary theories used for literary criticism. For each theory,
give a short background on its origin, and how it is used in interpreting literary texts.
C. Create an infographic on your chosen literary theory and present important
information about it (title of the literary theory, proponent, year of inception, and a
short background).
