1. Model Farm on Natural Farming established in the KVK: Yes.


Brief description on the model farms:-
i) Total Area: 1.5 acre
ii) Crops Grown: a) Mixed Cropping:
b) Inter cropping: i. Maize to attract fruit borer is intercrop
with okra ii. Ginger is intercrop with Bitter gourd.
iii) Other components of Natural Farming available to showcase to Farmers:
Among the all components of natural farming, the technology of preparation of
Beejamrut, Jeevamrut, gan-jeevamrut and their application showcasting available to the
farmer.
Crop-wise fields were also established where growing of Vegetables such as
Tomato, Brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower, okra, chilli etc as well as field crops such as
Mustard, Maize, Blackgram, millet etc., among leafy vegetables Chinese cabbage, lettuce
spinach, coriander along with root crops radish and carrot were also grown at natural
farming farm. At KVK Uankoti natural farming farm there is also a unit of conventional
farming land to compare the result of natural farming activities.

Success story:
Name: Kunjababu Sinha
Age: 53
Address: Bilashpur, Ward no – 05, Kailashahar, Unakoti District.
Topic: Cultivation of Carrot through Natural farming
Area: 0.16 ha.
No’s of desi cows: 04 no’s
Mr. Kunjababu sinha started growing of carrot through farming on his own plot. He put
polythene sheet inside the pit to prevent mixture waste out, added desi cowdung and urine in a
pit (size: 100 cm × 100 cm) containing water. This mixture was stored for 7 days and once in a
day he rotate/ the mixture using wood stick. He regularly applied it to feed the soil as well as
for effective microorganisms. He also adopting crop rotation, mulching and plant protection
through neem leaves zinger paste etc.
Significance: This is a big step to popularize and increase the crop production through natural
farming. He is an example of changing the mind set of farmer solely depend on chemical
fertilizer to farming through Natural farming.
