Sample size estimation was done using Medcalc software.

At 95% confidence level,

α (two-tailed) = 0.050 and at 95% confidence level.
The standard normal deviate for α = Zα = 1.960
According to the study conducted by Titong S etal. ()

Sensitivity of 73% and 77% for RDQ and GERDQ

respectively.
Specificity of50% and 43% for RDQ and GERDQ
respectively.
Prevalence of GERD in global population is 13.9% and 5%
absolute precision.
Sample size estimated is 58-98 for detecting the sensitivity
and specificity respectively
Hence sample size can be rounded off to 100

Formula used:

Study design: Hospital based cross-sectional study.

Plan for statistical analysis of the study:
Statistical analysis will be done using SPSS software 19.0.
Data obtained will be tabulated in the Excel sheet and will be
analysed.
All values are expressed as mean + standard deviation and
nonparametric data will be expressed as median and min-max
values.
Chi-square test for proportions in qualitative data.
Student’s unpaired t – test for Quantitative data.
Tests of diagnostic accuracy such as Sensitivity, specificity,
Positive predictive value, and negative predicti value with 95%
confidence level will be calculated
ROC curve analysis for the optimum cutoff will be calculated.
P< 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
