JOYSTICK CONTROLS

FOR
Skid-Steer Models 2076 & 2086

NEW CONTROL OPTION FROM MUSTANG

© 2006 Mustang Manufacturing Company, Inc. All rights reserved.
NEW "JOYSTICK CONTROLS" ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR:
MUSTANG 2076 AND 2086 SKID-STEER LOADERS.

• FEATURING INDUSTRY-EXCLUSIVE "ADJUSTABLE

CONTROL POSITIONING" FOR EXCEPTIONAL OPERATOR
COMFORT

• INDUSTRY-LEADING CONTROLLABILITY…SUPERIOR
TRAVEL CONTROL COMPARED TO COMPETITOR’S
JOYSTICK-CONTROL MACHINES

• ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROLS FOR AUXILIARY

HYDRAULICS

• HYDRAGLIDE™ RIDE CONTROL AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT

"JOYSTICK CONTROL" FEATURES

• Dual-joysticks with hydraulic control of hydrostatic transmission and main control
valve
- Left hand operates drive control, forward/reverse and steering with precise
hydrostatic control. Very low control effort forces for reduced fatigue when
operating a loader many hours per day.
- Right hand operates lift/tilt control. Simple forward/rearward motion of the
joystick will raise/lower the lift arm. Moving the joystick to the right/left will tilt
the attachment forward/rearward with a very easy, low-effort control.
- Pushbuttons - In left handle for optional horn and two-speed drive controls;
in right handle for Hydraglide™ ride control and float function control.

• New joystick controls incorporate a new Rexroth hydrostatic pump and advanced
Husco main hydraulic system valve. Drive motors remain as in previous model.
(A Rexroth pump, in a larger size, is used in the 2109 skid-steer loader with joystick
controls.)

2
"Joystick Control" Features (cont.)
• Adjustable Positioning - New control towers with ability to allow repositioning – both
left and right sides – of the entire control for user fit and comfort – rearward for
smaller operators, in the middle for mid-size operators and forward for larger and
taller operators. Simple lever adjustment (no tools needed) to loosen to allow
positioning by operator. In an optimum position, lever is tightened, and can be
turned downward to not interfere with operator. (Full forward positions also used for
tipping the ROPS back.)

• Full proportional auxiliary hydraulic flow control – This new option allows operator-
controlled speed and movement of the attachment. A yellow thumb switch is moved
either forward or rearward, providing for variable flow one direction or the other. The
farther the movement from center, the faster the auxiliary flow. For continuous flow,
the operator moves the yellow switch in either direction, and then presses the front
red trigger button, to allow continuous auxiliary flow without having to maintain the
thumb control. When the red button or yellow thumb button is pushed again, the
auxiliary flow will stop. This electric proportional auxiliary feature is only available
with this new option.

• Hydraglide™ Ride Control - With the joystick control option, the Mustang
Hydraglide™ ride control is standard equipment. This feature uses an accumulator
in the hydraulic lift circuit of the loader whereas an operator can allow the lift arm
to suspend when traveling with a load at higher ground speeds. This allows for
smoother operation of the loader for the operator, and better retention of the load
in the bucket or on pallet forks.

• Throttle and High-flow Handles - New longer handle for easier access and control.
With high-flow option units, the high-flow control lever is adjacent to the throttle
lever.

Float function status indicator – Upper pushbutton controls float
function left instrument panel

• When leveling and grading in reverse, the pushbutton float function allows the lift
arm to lower onto the ground and “float” and follow the terrain as the operator is
backing the loader. This allows easy back-grading and leveling using the
pushbutton control of the joystick system.
• Pushing the button momentarily will place the lift arm into float. Holding the
button in for 5 seconds will cause the lift arm to stay in float position, so that the
operator doesn’t have to continually hold the button in. The indicator lamp in the
left instrument panel will show the float function status either intermittent, with a
blinking lamp, or locked into float, with a continuously on lamp.
• When the button is pushed again, the float hold is turned off.

• When driving over rough terrain and/or at higher ground speeds, activating the
Hydraglide™ ride control with the right pushbutton allows the lift arm to move
into a “suspension” position, which allows the hydraulic lift cylinders to move up
and down slightly and absorb shock loads as the loader is being driven. The
indicator light (as shown) will illuminate when Hydraglide™ is active. When the
button is pushed again, the function is turned off.

ORDERING NOTES:

• Check the latest price pages updates because additional new stock numbers for
two-speed and standard or high-flow auxiliary hydraulic are required for ordering
when joystick control option is ordered. Specific stock numbers apply for each
model loader.

• Because Hydraglide™ ride control is standard equipment with this joystick

control option, do not order the Hydraglide™ ride control option, which is
separately available in the price list for use with other control options.

• Joystick controls are only factory-installed. Joystick controls cannot be adapted

or field-installed on existing inventory units.

• Joystick controls come from the factory ONLY with the ISO control pattern: full
drive control with left hand and lift/tilt function with right hand.

• A dual-hand (Case®-style control pattern) is in review as an optional field-installed

kit where the standard ISO control pattern could be converted to the dual-hand
(also known as the ‘H’ or Case®-style control pattern).

• Ground speeds are slightly slower on the joystick controlled models, and
slightly faster on machines equipped with "conventional controls" due to the
change in displacement in the hydrostatic pump compared to the respective
loader’s standard pumps with the other types of controls.

The new joystick control option enables operators to operate Mustang skid-steer
loaders with minimal fatigue, and make the units even more user-friendly. Mustang
joystick controls provide operators almost everything at their fingertips, to allow
precise, fatigue-free operation. Using the joystick controls in conjunction with the
standard foot throttle makes operating a Mustang skid loader even more efficient—the
foot pedal allows operators to run the engine at a slower speed to save fuel, reduce
speed, and reduce noise, and it allows the operator to increase engine speed when
more power or speed is required.

Good equipment operators are hard to find. Comfort is an important factor in keeping
operators satisfied…and a comfortable operator is a more productive operator. A
Mustang skid-steer loader equipped with the new joystick control helps satisfy the
needs of operators and the demands of the jobs in today’s changing marketplace.
