Material: 4ply cotton (fingering weight)


Yarn Brand: We’ve used Scheepjes Catona (Saffron 249, Bridal White 105, Red 115)
Crochet hook: 3mm
Wool Needle

Tension: Not important for this project

Used Stitches:

UK English US English
ch = chain chain
slst = slip stitch slip stich
dc = double crochet single crochet
tr = treble double crochet
sp= space space
skst = skip stich skip stich
yoh=yarn over hook
Special Stiches

2tr cluster = 2 treble cluster 2 double crochet cluster


3tr cluster= 2 treble cluster 3 double crochet cluster

To work 2tr cluster st (2dc cluster)


Yoh, insert hook into same space as beginning ch-3, pull up a loop, yoh and pull through 2
loops twice, yoh pull through remaining 3 loops on hook.

To work 3tr cluster st (3dc cluster)


Yoh, insert hook into next space, pull up a loop, yoh and pull through 2 loops, 3 times, yoh
pull through remaining 4 loops on hook.

Round 1 –Using saffron make a magic loop or ch4, slst to join a ring.

Round 2 –ch1 (counts as dc) 7dc into ring, fasten off total (8dc)
Round 3 –Using White attach yarn into any dc, ch3 (counts as first tr), 2tr cluster in same dc
(see special stitch), 2ch *3tr cluster, ch2* repeat from *to* around join with a slst to beg ch-
3 to join, fasten off, total (1 2tr cluster 7 3tr cluster 8ch-2 spaces) = 8petals

Round 2 Round 3

Round 4- Using red attach yarn into any ch-2sp between petals, ch3 (counts as tr), 1tr 2ch
2tr into same ch-2sp, working out of ch-2 spaces only from round 3, *2tr ch2 2tr *repeat
from *to* around, slst to beg ch-3 to join, total (8 2tr 2ch 2tr groups ).
Round 5- continuing in red slst over 2tr until you reach first ch-2sp, slst into sp, ch3 (counts
as first tr), 2tr 2ch 3tr, ch1 *3tr 2ch 3tr,ch1* repeat from *to* around, slst to beg ch-3 to
join, fasten off total (8 3tr 2ch 3tr groups 8ch-1sp )
Round 4 Round 5

Round 6- Using green attach yarn into any ch-2sp, ch3 (counts as first tr), 6tr into same ch-2
sp, 1dc into ch-1sp *7tr into next ch-2sp, 1dc into next ch-1sp* repeat from *to* around, sl
to beg ch-3 to join, fasten off total (8 7tr “shells” 8dc)
Round 7- Using white attach yarn into any dc working below the dc ch1 (counts as first dc
“spike” stitch) see photo, dc into next 3tr of 7tr group of round 7, into next dc (that’s the 4th
tr of 7tr group) dc ch2 dc, dc in next 3tr, into next dc and working below dc of round 7, dc
“spike dc”, *dc into next 3tr of 7tr group of round 7, into next dc (that’s the 4th tr of 7tr
group) dc ch2 dc, dc in next 3tr,* repeat from *to* around, slst to beg ch-1, fasten off.
Weave in ends.
