BOERNE POLICE RESPOND TO THREATS

AT BOERNE ISD HIGH SCHOOLS

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 9:25 a.m. Boerne Police Department dispatch was notified
of a threatening phone call made to Champion High School.

The caller said bombs had been placed at the school and there was an individual with a gun on
campus.

Boerne ISD immediately placed Champion High School on a lockdown. Shortly after, a second
potential threat at Boerne High School was also identified and that campus was placed on
lockdown, as well.

Boerne Police officers, joined by deputies from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, responded to
both high schools and conducted initial sweeps of the campuses. The potential threat at Boerne
High School was found to be unsubstantiated. The threat made against Champion High School
was also found to be unsubstantiated after a sweep of that campus and a second sweep with K-
9s trained to detect explosives.

No threat was ever substantiated at any BISD campuses.

All other Boerne ISD campuses were placed on a lockout during the response. As of 12:55 p.m.,
all lockdowns and lockouts at Boerne ISD campuses have been lifted.

During the response to this event, law enforcement received multiple rumors related to this
threat that were also unsubstantiated.

We continue to investigate the origin of the initial threat.

We are thankful for the quick response of our partners at Boerne ISD, the Boerne Fire
Department, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, and Kendall County EMS, as well as our
partners at the state and federal level.

No additional information will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
