Updated CHEM 1411 Spring 2023

FINAL STUDY GUIDE

know how to calculate answers using methods taught to you this semester in
order to receive full and partial credits.

2 short answer essays will be on there. Possible topics: (I will choose 2 of the 3 and
no more than 3 sentences that answer what, why and how on the following
topics:
1) what is the definition of an isotope?
Atoms with the same number of protons but deferent numbers of neutrons.
2) what is a single displacement reaction (can’t use any home girl or street
language to describe, that was only for demonstrative purposes)
is a reaction in which one element is substituted for another element in a compound.

3) why is it important to balance equations?

Balancing a chemical equation is important in order to follow the law of conservation of
mass.
A balansed Equation also tells us how many molecules of each reactant, and how many
molecules of Product in a reaction.
Use your text book and slides to help with developing your practice essay at
home.
