1. What is the primary objective of the ISO? What important role dos the organization play in
our world today?

 The objectives of the ISO are to develop and provide international standard in response to
market needs. You can order copies of these standards and apply them to the operations
of your company to achieve certification of ISO compliance or to ensure your business
satisfies internationally recognized procedures.

2. Describe the steps implemented by the ISO in developing standards. What control method or
process does it follow in the development of standards?

 An ISO standard is developed by a panel of experts, within a technical committee. Once

the need for a standard has been established, these experts meet to discuss and negotiate a
draft standard. As soon as a draft has been developed it is shared with ISO’s member who
are asked to comment and vote on it.

3. Do you believe that the standard development process of ISO is effective and efficient? Why?

 Yes, because ISO standard are key part of our society as they ensure quality and safety in
both products and service in international trade. Businesses can be seen to benefits from
ISO standards as they can help cut cost by improved system and procedures put in place.

4. How will a business or organization benefit if it adopts ISO standards in its control process?

 ISO standards help businesses of any size and sector reduce costs, increase productivity
and access new markets.
