A Semi-Detailed (4A’s) LESSON PLAN


(MAPEH 9 PE) Second Quarter

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

1. Identify the different dances form of social dances


2. Demonstrate basic steps of modern-waltz
3. Show the importance of social dances in a community

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Social Dance; Modern-Waltz
Learning Competency and Code: Executes the skills involved in the dance (PE9RD-IIIb-h-4)
Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Smart-TV
Reference: K to 12 Curriculum Guide for Physical Education (Grade 9)

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
 Greetings
 Prayers
 Checking of the Attendance

B. Acitvity (You, you, you!)


The teacher will flash video clips of different dances on the screen, the students
will choose their partner and will be given 3 seconds to identify if the dance
belongs to social dances or hip-hop dances. If the picture shown in the screen
belongs to hip-hop dances, the pair will dance a TikTok moves (You! You!
You!) and if the dance belongs to the social dances, they will hold their
partner and will dance a slow waltz.
C. Analysis
After the activity the teacher will ask on what did the students observed of the
dances from the activity. After the recitation the teacher will explain and discuss
the two forms of social dances, the Latin-American and Modern Standard Dance

D. Abstraction
Lesson Proper
 The teacher will discuss what is social dances and what are the two
categories of social dance
 The teacher will show some video clips of the different dances from the
Latin American Dances and the Modern Standard Dances
 The teacher will present and explain the background of modern-waltz.
 The Teacher will present a video of a couple dancing the basic box-step
of the modern waltz dance.

E. Application
After the discussion, the teacher will ask the student to get a 1/2 sheet of paper.
The students will identify the dances that will be played on the screen. They will
list down and classify the dances that belongs to the Latin American Dances and
Modern Standard Dances.

IV. Assessment
I. The students will perform a combination of traveling and turning box step and
will be graded individually according to the criteria given below:

V. Assignment
Read and research in advance about the other form of social dance which is the Latin-
American Dances.
