To Whom It May Concern:

I am happy to write a letter of recommendation for Brandon Olivar. I have had the honor of
working with Brandon throughout his sophomore, junior and senior years at Nova Academy
Early College High School and in this time, I’ve gotten to know his quiet determination and
leadership.

Brandon has been in my Ambassador’s class since his sophomore year. In this class, we do some
group projects, community building, and professional development . Students are expected to
work in the community with businessmen and other professionals as well as parents of our
prospective and current students. I knew that for any project in which I needed student
volunteers, I could count on Brandon to not only be there for me, but excel in his duties.
Because of the trust I developed in Brandon, I encouraged him to take on a leadership role in
Ambassadors by his junior year. He excelled in this position as he set an example for other
students to follow. As a senior, Brandon continues to be a leader both in and outside of the
classroom while also taking on four AP classes.

I was also fortunate enough to have Brandon in my Honors History class last year. As a student,
Brandon excelled. He is very intelligent; he is a student who can get an A in the class without
trying as hard as some others may have to. However, Brandon is not satisfied with just getting
an A and moving on. He exemplified this attitude when I noticed how well he was doing in the
honor’s course and, a few months into the class, suggested that he try the AP test even though he
hadn’t been doing the AP curriculum. He wasn’t in the AP class because he was taking several
colloge courses concurrently with his high school and was taking AP Lit. Brandon took on the
challenge even though it meant me throwing a lot more specifics as far as names, events, and
dates as well as practice AP exams and essays. Brandon took on the challenge and passed the
AP exam. I was thrilled, proud, but unsurprised by his success.

I have had a lot of very good students come my way. Brandon is among the top tier who I would
recommend for any program. Brandon works hard every day. He faces challenges with
unwavering attention and follows through on the work that he needs to do. He does not accept
what is good enough, but puts his effort into growing with each assignment or challenge set
before him. I have extreme confidence that he will succeed in whatever venture he decides to
take on.

I look forward to hearing what the future has in store for Brandon. If there is any additional
information I can provide about him, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Brian Goodheart
