All submitted work may be reviewed for authenticity and originality utilizing Turnitin®. Students who do not
wish to have their work submitted to Turnitin® must, by the end of the second week of class,
communicate this in writing to the instructor and make mutually agreeable alternate arrangements.
When writing tests, students must be able to produce official Centennial College photo identification or
they may be refused the right to take the test or test results will be void.
Tests or assignments conducted remotely may require the use of online proctoring technology where the
student’s identification is verified and their activity is monitored and/or recorded, both audibly and visually
through remote access to the student's computer and web camera. Students must communicate in writing
to the instructor as soon as possible and prior to the test or assignment due date if they require an
alternate assessment format to explore mutually agreeable alternatives.

Use of Dictionaries
• Any dictionary (hard copy or electronic) may be used in regular class work.
• Dictionary use is not permitted in test or examination settings.
Failure to notify their Lab/Clinical Instructor and clinical unit in advance reflects a lack of accountability
and may result in a failing grade.
Evaluation Methods Policy
Grades set by the program for individual courses supersede the College grading system. A “P- Pass”
grade is required for students to achieve in all lab and clinical practice courses.
Evaluative methods used in courses in the PN program include reflective assignment(s), lab lecture
guide, performance appraisals, and checklists of “hands-on” return demonstrations in the laboratory
setting, and student clinical checklists in the clinical setting.
Return Demonstration Test Policy
Attendance is mandatory for all evaluative methods.
To participate in the return demonstration test students must provide a Centennial College photo-ID card.
Students who do not have official photo-ID will be permitted to engage in the return demonstration test
with a substitute photo-ID, but they will be required to produce photo-ID at the program or department
office within 24 hours or the next business day following the return demonstration test, or else the test
results will be void.
In order to participate, in all lab and clinical application courses in the PN program, students must be
capable of fully meeting all the criteria and components outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario
(2012) document: Requisite Skills and Abilities for nursing practice in Ontario. Lab skills and/or clinical
client assignments/responsibilities cannot be modified, even on a temporary basis. For example, a
student who has sustained a physical injury may not modify their client assignment or responsibilities in
the clinical placement. In such case, a student must have original documentation from a Physician or
Nurse Practitioner that states he or she can participate in all physical activities required in the course. If,
at any time in the program, a student has any concerns about his/her ability to meet this requirement,
please notify the clinical instructor and success advisor immediately.
Failure on the part of the student to adhere to the following criteria will result in a grade of “F - Fail” for
that evaluative method if the student did not:
• Notify the Instructor via email in advance of the scheduled return demonstration test.
The instructor will schedule missed return demonstration on a case by case basis.
