HEALTH CARE ETHICS

Course Description
This course deals with the application of
ethico-moral concepts and principles
affecting care of the individuals, family,
population group and community. It
involves discussion of issues and
concerns in varied health care situations.
The learners are expected to apply
sound ethical decision making in
varied health scenarios.

Level Outcomes
At the end of third year, given a
normal high-risk mother and
newborn, child, family, population
group and community in any health
care settings, the learners
demonstrate safe, appropriate, and
holistic care utilizing the nursing
process.
Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students shall:
1. Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and
health sciences and humanities in the practice of
ethics in health care;
2. Provide safe appropriate, humanistic and holistic
care to individuals, families, population groups and
community utilizing nursing process guided by
ethic0-moral principles;
3. Apply guidelines and principles of evidenced-
based practice in health care ethics;
4. Practice nursing in accordance with existing laws,
legal, ethical and moral principles;
5. Communicate effectively and honestly in speaking
and writing using ethically and culturally
acceptable language;

At the end of the course, the students shall:

comprehensively following the guidelines and
protocol in documentation;
7. Work effectively in collaboration with inter-, intra
and multidisciplinary and multicultural teams un
nursing care practice;
8. Practice beginning management and leadership
skills in the delivery of client care and in health
program development using ethical decision-
making skills;
9. Observe ethical principles and considerations in
the conduct of research;
10. Engage in professional and advocacy activities
addressing ethico-moral issues in nursing;

CLASS STANDING: ATTENDANCE
Students are reminded that this course is completed by
ATTENDANCE – virtual appearance and participation are
parameters for EVALUATION and GRADING

According to the University Handbook (page 104),


a maximum 20% of EXCUSED absences is
permitted.
If absences are deemed UNEXCUSED and exceeds 20%, a
student (after due process) is given a grade of FA – failed
due to absences anytime within the semester and
CANNOT take the FINAL EXAMS
