1. INTRODUCTION

As per syllabus there is an industrial training for students of


B.B.A. so, I have taken training in “AUSTIN ENGINEERING CO. LTD.”
Established at Patla. The main purpose of the training is to observe the
various management task and collect the information.

‘AUSTIN ENGINEERING CO. LTD.’ is public limited company. It is


industry of production of all the types of bearings. It is biggest company of
producing bearings not only in Gujarat but also in India.

It is established in 1973. it is most successful unit in Gujarat as


well as in India. The company has got certificate ISO:9001 / IATF 16949 /
ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 the company has good domestic market as well
as international market so, its progress is very good. The company’s
financial position is very sound.

5 . HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF UNIT

The history of “Austin Engineering co.


Ltd." Was started and established in the year of 1973. It was
Started as a partnership firm. At that time its name was “ACCURATE
ENGINEERING COMPANY ”.

In that days there was a great need of some automatic industry in


the field of bearing so, partners decided to convert it into private company
and in the year 1978 it converted in private company and the name of the
company and was ‘ AUSTIN ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED ’ The
company at that time was located at G.I.D.C. in JUNAGADH.

The growth & development of company would be increasing and in the


year 1985 company was converted into ‘ Public Limited ’ and in 1994 the
company purchased the ‘ Trade Mark ’.

In the year 1994 the company started second unit, which is located at ‘
PATLA ’ 25 Km . for from junagadh.

When Company Started in 1973 it was producing only 40 to 50


varieties of bearing but today it was producing 2000 to 2500 varieties of
bearings and the product of company is 4500 types / Sizes.

Production Management
1. PRODUCTION PROCESS

Production process is very important factor affecting the success of


any industry the production process of “Austin engineering co. ltd” is as
under
(1). Raw Material
Raw material is an important and needed factor for production of any
item in this company in order to produce bearings raw materials are steel
wire, steel ball, CRCA sheet, races, rollers etc.

(2). Turning the races & rollers


This is 2nd stage of production proper bearing item the raw material to
finished product in this stage, trained workers turn the races & rollers in
required size.

(3). Heat Treatment


In 3rd stage all races and rollers are given heat through electric furnish
at 845⁰C to 855⁰C.

(4) Grinding of Races & Rollers


After heat treatment the part of rollers & races are refined inner &
outer part of races & rollers are given through the grinding machine.

(5) Lapping Turning and Finishing


In this stage races and rollers are checked and defective pieces are
trapped then after super finishing will be done that part.

(6) Assembling
There is separate department for making of bearings all kinds of
bearing are managed and measure its size, quality and shape then after all
the bearings are assembled.

(7) Cleaning, Oiling & packing


After the expert inspect all the bearing, when they are assembled if
they are suitable for dispatch then sending for oiling and then sending it for
cleaning purpose.

(8). Storage and Dispatch


The finished goods are kept in storage and from there, are dispatch in
the market under the name ‘AEC’ bearings.
