SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

The results of the study will be of great benefit to the following.

STUDENTS The results will provide the students knowledge about the effects of the
excessive use of mobile phones on their mental and physical health. It will give the students
information about this certain topic. At the end of this study, students will finally know what
the causes of these effects were and how they'll apply the recommendation we will provide in
their daily lives.

TEACHERS The given data and information would guide the teachers to have a deeper
understanding about this study and for them to identify different causes of the effects of the
mobile phones on the students of Mapulang Lupa National High School.

FUTURE RESEARCHERS The finding of this study will be beneficial to researchers in the
field of technology and education as they will emphasize the effects of the excessive use of
mobile phones. The result of this study may become a basis for further studies

PRESENTATION AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This part of the study deals with the data gathering presentation and interpretation of the
results from the survey conducted. To accurately draw comparisons between the variables,
the researchers used the pie chart presentation of data.

Table 1: Have you experienced any physical discomfort or health issues related to prolonged
mobile phone use?

Table 1; shows the distribution of respondents according to the status. The table shows that
88.2% of the students who responded from Mapulang Lupa National High School (MLNHS)
experienced physical discomfort and health issues related to prolonged use of their mobile
phones. While 11.8% of students did not experience any of these effects.

Table 2: Do you feel anxious or stressed if you are unable to use your mobile phone for an
extended period?

Table 2 shows the distribution of respondents according to the status. The table shows that
66.7% of the students who use mobile phones from Mapulang Lupa National High School
(MLNHS) always feel anxious or stressed if they are unable to use their mobile phones.
While 33.3% of the students say that they only feel it sometimes. This shows that they mostly

SUMMARY
Mobile phones have profoundly impacted various aspects of our lives in school, bringing
about both positive and negative effects. On the positive side, these devices have
revolutionized communication, enabling instant connectivity across the school which makes
it helpful. They serve as powerful tools for information access, facilitating quick and easy

communication in personal, professional, and emergency situations. However, the pervasive

use of mobile phones has raised concerns about potential negative effects. Excessive screen
time, especially among younger generations, is linked to issues such as physical discomfort
and mental health related issues. The constant connectivity can contribute to heightened
stress levels and a sense of information overload. The addictive nature of mobile phones,
driven by notifications and the allure of social media updates, has raised mental health
concerns. Smartphone addiction can contribute to anxiety, depression, and a sense of social
isolation. In summary, while mobile phones have undeniably transformed the way we live,
study, and communicate, it is crucial to navigate their usage mindfully. Balancing the benefits
with awareness of potential drawbacks is essential for harnessing the positive aspects of
mobile technology while mitigating its negative effects on physical and mental well-being,
social interactions, and the environment.

CONCLUSION
To address the potential negative effects of mobile phone usage identified in this research,
implementing a comprehensive approach is essential. The first way to address this is to
establish designated tech-free zones in homes and schools, such as during meals and before
bedtime. Encourage the development of non-digital routines to promote face-to-face
interactions and better mental or physical condition. The second way is to implement
screentime monitoring tools. Develop or promote the use of mobile apps and tools that help
individuals monitor and manage their screen time. These tools can provide insights into usage
patterns and assist in setting limits. The third way is to do ergonomic practices. Publicize
information about ergonomic practices to alleviate physical discomfort associated with
mobile phone use. Encourage regular breaks, proper posture, and exercises to minimize the
risk of text neck and other health related issues. Participating in community socializing also
helps. Engaging in community socializing can provide a balance to mobile phone usage by
fostering real-world connections, reducing screen time, and promoting face-to-face
interactions. It can help mitigate potential negative effects such as social isolation, excessive
screen time, and dependency on virtual interactions. In conclusion, the effects of mobile
phones are a subtle interplay between convenience and challenges. As indispensable tools in
modern life, they offer connectivity and efficiency but demand mindful use to mitigate
potential health and social repercussions. Striking a balance between harnessing the benefits
and addressing the pitfalls is crucial for fostering a healthy relationship with mobile
technology in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Continued research and awareness are
pivotal in shaping a future where mobile phones enhance our lives without compromising the
student's well-being.

RECOMMENDATION

General Recommendations:
Parental Guidance and Communication:

Encourage open communication between parents and students regarding mobile phone usage,
ensuring parents are aware of and involved in their child's digital activities.
Time Management Skills:

Integrate time management skills into the curriculum, teaching students how to prioritize
tasks and allocate time effectively, both on and offline.
School Policies:

Develop and enforce school policies that strike a balance between leveraging the benefits of
mobile technology and mitigating potential negative impacts on academic performance and
well-being.
Professional Development for Educators:

Provide ongoing professional development for educators on integrating technology into

teaching and managing the impact of mobile phones in the classroom.
Student Support Services:

Establish support services for students who may be struggling with the academic, social, or
psychological effects of mobile phone usage.
By implementing these recommendations, schools and educational institutions can create an
environment where students can harness the positive aspects of mobile phones while
minimizing potential drawbacks. Regular assessment and adjustments to these
recommendations will ensure they remain relevant in the dynamic landscape of technology
and education.
