Test Past Year K3 K4
1. (a) This data given was from a report by group B7 for the experiment K3. Calculate
the percentage of the retained sample and the percentage of sample passing
through. Mass of sample is 500g.
(23 Marks)
(b) There is an error detected from the table above. Give ONE (1) possible reason
why its happen.
(2 Marks)
The error detected from the above table is the retained sample weight is more than 500g.
This is due to the sieve which is not clean thoroughly.

EAA 204 - Final Test K3 & K4 2021-2022
[6 marks]
The effect of compacting the coarse aggregate in Bulk Density Test is the compacted
coarse aggregated have a greater bulk density compared to uncompacted coarse
aggregate in a given volume. As during the compacting process, the spaces between
the coarse aggregate are being filled, therefore the mass of compacted coarse
aggregate increased leads to the greater bulk density of compacted coarse
aggregate.
Quality of harden concrete with compacted coarse aggregate have a greater strength
compared to harden concrete with uncompacted coarse aggregate. As the harden
concrete with compacted coarse aggregate have lower void spaces. The lower the
void spaces, the greater strength the harden concrete.
