WRITTEN REPORT

Cuba, officially known as the Republic of Cuba, is an island nation situated in the
Caribbean Sea, just south of Florida in the United States. Known for its rich history,
vibrant culture, and distinctive political and economic landscape, Cuba has long been a
subject of international fascination. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean archipelago
and is characterized by diverse landscapes, including fertile plains, mountains, and
beautiful beaches. The tropical climate offers warm temperatures throughout the year,
making it a popular destination for tourists.
Cuba's history is deeply intertwined with Spanish colonization, which began in the 15th
century. The island gained independence in 1902, but its political landscape has been
marked by significant events, most notably the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro in
1959. The revolution transformed Cuba into a socialist state, with a one-party political
system led by the Communist Party of Cuba. Cuba has a unique economic system,
combining socialist principles with limited market-oriented activities. The state plays a
central role in the economy, which has faced challenges, including the U.S. embargo and
the collapse of the Soviet Union. Despite these challenges, Cuba has maintained strengths
in sectors like healthcare, education, and biotechnology. The Cuban Missile Crisis, also
known as the October Crisis in Cuba, or the Caribbean Crisis was a 13-day confrontation
between the governments of the United States and the Soviet Union, when American
deployments of nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey were matched by Soviet deployments
of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The crisis lasted from 16 to 28 October 1962. The
confrontation is widely considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into full-
scale nuclear war
