POPULATION AND GROWTH

Mampong Ashanti is a municipality of 670.7km2 area. whose population

has been increasing consistently at the rate of 2.6% annually from 2010
to now according to the population and housing census in
2021[PHC2021]. Mampong is of a population of 116,632 during the
PHC 2021 against 88,051 during the population and housing census in
2010 [PHC 2010]. The population increase has also caused an increase
in the area's population density. which stand at 173.9 per km2 area. Of
the total population, which is made up of different ethnic groups, literate
and illiterate, male and female, and of urban and rural communities. The
ethnic groups comprised of the AKAN, GA-DAGINR, EWE, GUAN,
GURMA, MOLE-DAGBANI, GRUSI, MANDE, and OTHER ETHNIC
GROUPS whose population division is 79,856, 557, 1,462, 912, 7,085,
17,806, 3,559, 2,722 and 1,686 respectively. The urbanization of the
communities is 54,682 rural settlements against 61,950 urban
settlements. The age distribution of Ashanti mampong is 0 - 14 years
39,935, 15 - 64 years 71,036, and 65+ years 5,661 in the 2021 PHC. The
gender ratio of the population is 56,965 males against 59,667 females.
The educational distribution of the population above 11 years is 67,888
literates against 18,368 illiterates according to 2021 PHC.
