Overconsumption of unhealthy fast food and lack of home cooked meals has led to a 20% increase in overweight children over the last decade, according to the document. The proliferation of fast food advertising targeting kids and busy working parents relying on processed convenience foods for quick family dinners are cited as the primary causes. Unless society takes steps to address this issue, the consequences of unhealthy weight and related health problems like diabetes are expected to deteriorate further for future generations.

The percentage of overweight children in western society has
increased by almost 20% in the last ten years. Why has this phenomenon occurred and what does it mean for the future generations?
In a truthful manner, there is quite a lot to be said
about the above issue. Personally, I gather that there are two focal causes why this phenomenon occurs. The first one is that there is promotion of poor food nutrients and the second one is that there is limited parent monitoring on children’s meals. That being the case, there is a certain chain of reactions that will also be examined From first principles, the main cause of this problem is the poor diet that is being advertised on a regular basis. Strictly speaking the point that I want to focus on is that over the last decade there has been a prolific increase in the number of fast food restaurants. The food in these places has been proven to be very unhealthy, and much of the advertising is targeted at children who are much more gullible. Given as an example could be the bombardment of junk food chain stores that show off their collaboration with celebrities who consume these fatty and sugary meals. Unfortunately, teen fans wish to copy every step of their favorite megastars. All this frequent consumption leads to various health problems such as diabetes. This means a child has to be injected with insulin for the rest of one’s life.
Heading further, a second reason is that parents work a good
deal of hours and have little time to prepare wholesome meals for the family. In plain English, the thing that is important to mention is that a lot of food consumed is processed food, especially with regards to ready-made meals which are a quick and easy option for parents who are working hard. Additionally, parents who are overly tired tend to give bad example to their kids by consuming all this insubstantial food quality themselves. This can be easily supported by the following example. So, a parent who arrives late at home to a hungry family needs to prepare something quickly so as to satisfy their appetite. Sadly, instead of cooking healthily at the oven or the air- fryer prefers to fry on the pan a meal or even order a take away that can be ready to consume on the instant.
All in all, there are two fundamental causes with evident
consequences. Firstly the role model of non- qualitative food habits .Secondly the lack of good- nutrition role models within the family. Society must ensure steps are taken to prevent this drawback from deteriorating further.
