The Mukaab – LEED Certification Approach

I. Scope of the Project

The Mukaab, is an upcoming world’s largest modern downtown project in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Project team has divided
the mega-project into conceivable parcels, namely the Seven Assets, with further subdivisions. The entire project is a New
Construction, and the scope includes targeting LEED v4/4.1 certification for the entire project. The Mukaab project is being developed
by same owner/client and project team (consultants, contractors, etc.)
The Mukaab development consists of the following assets and features.

1. Basement 2. Wadi Podiums

Project consists of 4 Podium blocks. The podium comprises of


following space type:
The project has a common basement comprising of 3 levels (B1. B2 and o Retail: 1-2 floors
B3). The basements are currently composed of car parking allowance, o Office: 5-7 floors
MEP and other back of House (BOH) services. o Hotel: 4-6 floors
o Residential: 4-6 floors

The Central Tower comprises of following space type: The Dome is an internally illuminated exterior inward display which
o Retail – 8 floors is designed to provide digital experience for the central tower.

The Mukaab Corner Towers comprises of 4 towers on each end i.e., North, The rooftop majorly comprises of the following space usage:
South, East, and West. All the Towers are connected at both Ground level o Residential – G+2 Floors
and Rooftop level. The Space usage for corner towers is divided into
o Hotel – G+2 Floors

o East and West Tower o Outdoor leisure space +landscape

7. Najdi Screen

It is a façade component consisting of LEDs designed through a layering of filigree pattern. The Najdi Screen wraps the Corner Towers and
the central tower as single large envelope.

The Entire Mukaab is has a common Basement connecting all assets. Additionally, The Corner towers are connected at Mukaab
Ground Level and Rooftop and The Wadi Podiums are connected at Mukaab Ground Level and connected to the Rooftop via a
Shuttle lift which directly connects both allowing every asset to access Rooftop space.
