2001 Builder, Templet Builder,
On-line Builder, and TCL Builder.

Hardware Requirements
The following hardware is required to support the basic AdvaBuild software (ABB
PAS System Services, Administration, and Control Builder):
ABB recommends the use of Dell, HP, and IBM workstations and servers. ABB
recommends that the hardware chosen is certified to run the supported operating
systems (Windows XP Professional SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2).
• The installation drive must be 4 GByte or larger with 1.5 GByte of free space
recommended. The AdvaBuild software requires approximately 600 MBytes
plus the size of the projects.
• A 19-inch minimum monitor is recommended.
• Available PCI slot.
The PU514 or PU515 PCI RTABs require a 5V PCI slot. Do not put the PU514 or
PU515 RTAB in a PCI slot that uses the PCI-X133 standard. Also, do not use the
USB capable PU518 or PU519.
The latest PU514A or PU515A PCI RTABs use a PCI-X133 slot and are
backward compatible to earlier PCI slot specifications. These cards can not be
used in PCI-X266 or higher, or in PCI Express slots. PU514A and PU515A
RTABs replace PU514 and PU515 RTABs respectively.
• The hard drives must be NTFS partitioned.

14 3BUR001976D3501
Section 1 Introduction Software Requirements

• Valid static IP address. The software will not function properly without a valid
static IP address. Do not use DHCP.
A dynamic IP address, using DHCP, is not supported because of client
disconnects from servers. This is a known problem with DHCP and D/COM. If
DHCP is chosen, there will be disconnect errors (the frequency or rate of errors
experienced while using DHCP has not been tested). A refresh of the display
might recover from the error. However, it may be necessary to exit and restart
the application.

Software Requirements
In addition to this hardware, the following software must be installed, installing the
AdvaBuild software:
• Windows XP Professional SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer.
– For systems without Process Portal B, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or
greater must be installed (supports required level of Windows Script
Host).
– For systems with Process Portal B, use the version of Microsoft Internet
Explorer as specified for the system (Windows Script Version 5.5 is
installed). Windows Server 2003 SP2 requires Version 6.0 SP1 and
Windows XP Professional SP3 requires Version 6.0 SP3.
• Adobe Reader 8.0 or later (included on the DVD).
Any additional hardware or software requirements for optional AdvaBuild
applications are described in their respective user’s guides (refer to Related
Documentation on page 8).

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise version 8.7i can only be used if Patch 1 is

installed. If Patch 1 is not installed, the rootkit scanning included with McAfee
v8.7i will cause the ABB PAS System Services software to fail.

Installation
Refer to the AdvaBuild Administrator’s Guide for instructions on how to install the
AdvaBuild Version 3.5 software and any options for the first time (the 3.5
instructions are valid for new installations of Version 3.5). If replacing a previous
version of software you must upgrade as described below.

Upgrading
The upgrade from AdvaBuild Version 3.4 to Version 3.5 software requires recording
and saving project data before upgrading as described in the AdvaBuild
Administrator’s Guide Installation section Upgrading to AdvaBuild Version 3.5.
To migrate a database from the HP-UX or Multibus platform to the Windows
platform, see the instructions in the AdvaBuild Migration Guide.

If your system includes Special Algorithm (SP_ALGx) support, it is required that

the SOFTCON.CF file be modified after upgrading the AdvaBuild computer and
before downloading the controllers. Also, special algorithm descriptor files must
be migrated or rebuilt as described in Appendix D of the AdvaBuild
Administrators Guide.
Upgrading systems with Special Algorithm support cannot be done via an online
upgrade. A cold boot is required.

The existing license strings for AdvaBuild v3.3 or 3.4 are not supported by
AdvaBuild v3.5.

Online Upgrade of SC540 Modules Section 3 Installation

Online Upgrade of SC540 Modules

Each SC540/CS513 eDCN Interface board must be restarted individually. To do so:
1. Check the System Status for the controller subsystem to be upgraded and verify
that both eDCN Interface modules are ACTIVE (for redundant media, look for
two green dots). This is required to perform an online upgrade.
2. Remove the CS513 eDCN Interface Submodule.
3. Remove the SC540/CS513 boards and reseat it.
4. Reseat the CS513 eDCN Interface Submodule.
5. Wait until the SC540/CS513 starts up and goes ACTIVE again.
6. Wait 5 minutes.
7. Repeat the procedure for the other SC540/CS513 boards.
When upgrading any system at Version 3.3/4 that does not have the
ABB-PSSN_146066 patch installed, it is necessary to online upgrade all
SC540/CS512 DCN interfaces. The following procedure does not need to be
performed for versions prior to Version 3.3/4, those at 3.3/4 with the patch ABB-
PSSN_146066 installed or those at AdvaBuild 3.4.

These node types are logically one node, but physically two separate card files and
DCN addresses. While viewing the standard "MOD 300 System Status" display,
reset the CPU in one of the card files and wait for the transition from "Down" to
"Active", and a similar transition for the single media indicator to go from red to
green. Once that node is "Active", reset the other CPU and monitor its transition
back to "Active".

Upgrade Controllers
As part of the AdvaBuild 3.5 upgrade procedure, you will need to perform an
upgrade of the controllers to implement fixes to System Services 5.0. Reboot the
controllers (preferred method) or perform an online upgrade.
Refer to the following, as appropriate:
• Advant Controller 460 Users Guide.
• Advant Station 500 Series with AdvaCommand / AdvaBuild Users Guide.
• Operate IT Process Portal B with MOD 300 Connect Operation.

the AdvaBuild 3.5 server installation or upgrade.

GENERAL INFORMATION
For new or upgrade installations of AdvaBuild 3.5 the Administrator's User Guide
provides the necessary sequence of data backup and the installation procedures.
This supplemental instruction provides additional information needed to install
AdvaBuild 3.5 for use with the external RTA unit.

3BUR001976D3501 35
UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS Section 3 Installation

Before you install AdvaBuild 3.5 and PAS on the AdvaBuild server PC review the
AdvaBuild Administrator's User Guide and the PU410/412 RTA unit user guide
3BUA001442R0001. Your PC will need to be fitted with dual NIC cards to support
the communication between the PC and the RTA unit. Additionally, the ABB
software product RNRP used to report on the health of the dual network connections
between the PC and the RTA unit must be installed. The NIC card configuration and
RNRP installation should be done prior to AdvaBuild and PAS installation.
Information about RNRP can be found in System 800xA Automation System
Network Design and Configuration User Guide 3BSE034463R. This user guide and
the RTA Unit PU410/PU412 User Guide referenced in these instructions can both be
found in appropriately named subdirectories at the root level on the AdvaBuild 3.5
DVD.

UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS
If you are upgrading a previous version of AdvaBuild, perform the data backup
described in the Upgading to AdvaBuild Version 3.5 in the AdvaBuild 3.5
Administrator's User Guide, 3BUR001977R3501.

AdvaBuild INSTALLATION Section 3 Installation

The PAS System Services software delivered with AdvaBuild 3.5 includes drivers
for both the existing PU514/515 internal PCI RTABs and the external PU410 or
PU412 RTA units. The software install process will automatically select the correct
RTA drivers based on:
• Internal PCI RTAB installed: The PU514/PU515 drivers will be installed
• No internal PCI RTAB: The PU410/412 drivers for the external RTA unit will
be installed.
Before initiating the PAS install, if using Windows Server 2003 perform the
following:
• Select Control Panel > System > Hardware > Driver Signing.
• Select Ignore in the Driver Signing Options dialog to avoid the need to confirm
multiple warning messages. See figure Figure 2 below.

Figure 2. Driver Signing Options

If you do not select Ignore driver signing, there will be approximately 40 pop-ups
(as shown in Figure 3) that will have to be acknowledged.

Changing from Internal PCI RTAB to External RTA unit

To change your server PC from internal PCI RTAB to an external RTA unit
• Uninstall PAS
• Remove the PCI RTAB
• Install NIC cards, RNRP, the external RTA unit and reinstall PAS per the
instructions above.

Changing the External RTA Unit Default IP Address

For almost all installations the default RTA unit IP addresses can be used. But in
some 800xA RNRP installations where network area 10 has already been
configured for use, the RTA Unit IP addresses will need to be changed. This is
described in the PU410/PU412 RTA Unit User Guide.
The AdvaBuild 3.5 DVD includes a folder named "RTA Management Tool". In
Windows Explorer, you can copy this directory to "C:\Program Files\ABB
Industrial IT" by dragging it there. In addition to the Management Tool software
files, this folder also includes the PU410/PU412 RTA Unit User Guide.
If it becomes necessary to change the default IP addresses, double click on the
ManagementTool.exe file and follow the instructions in the PU410/PU412 RTA
Unit User Guide.
