On-line Builder, and TCL Builder.
Hardware Requirements
The following hardware is required to support the basic AdvaBuild software (ABB
PAS System Services, Administration, and Control Builder):
ABB recommends the use of Dell, HP, and IBM workstations and servers. ABB
recommends that the hardware chosen is certified to run the supported operating
systems (Windows XP Professional SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2).
• The installation drive must be 4 GByte or larger with 1.5 GByte of free space
recommended. The AdvaBuild software requires approximately 600 MBytes
plus the size of the projects.
• A 19-inch minimum monitor is recommended.
• Available PCI slot.
The PU514 or PU515 PCI RTABs require a 5V PCI slot. Do not put the PU514 or
PU515 RTAB in a PCI slot that uses the PCI-X133 standard. Also, do not use the
USB capable PU518 or PU519.
The latest PU514A or PU515A PCI RTABs use a PCI-X133 slot and are
backward compatible to earlier PCI slot specifications. These cards can not be
used in PCI-X266 or higher, or in PCI Express slots. PU514A and PU515A
RTABs replace PU514 and PU515 RTABs respectively.
• The hard drives must be NTFS partitioned.
14 3BUR001976D3501
Section 1 Introduction Software Requirements
• Valid static IP address. The software will not function properly without a valid
static IP address. Do not use DHCP.
A dynamic IP address, using DHCP, is not supported because of client
disconnects from servers. This is a known problem with DHCP and D/COM. If
DHCP is chosen, there will be disconnect errors (the frequency or rate of errors
experienced while using DHCP has not been tested). A refresh of the display
might recover from the error. However, it may be necessary to exit and restart
the application.
Software Requirements
In addition to this hardware, the following software must be installed, installing the
AdvaBuild software:
• Windows XP Professional SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer.
– For systems without Process Portal B, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or
greater must be installed (supports required level of Windows Script
Host).
– For systems with Process Portal B, use the version of Microsoft Internet
Explorer as specified for the system (Windows Script Version 5.5 is
installed). Windows Server 2003 SP2 requires Version 6.0 SP1 and
Windows XP Professional SP3 requires Version 6.0 SP3.
• Adobe Reader 8.0 or later (included on the DVD).
Any additional hardware or software requirements for optional AdvaBuild
applications are described in their respective user’s guides (refer to Related
Documentation on page 8).

Installation
Refer to the AdvaBuild Administrator’s Guide for instructions on how to install the
AdvaBuild Version 3.5 software and any options for the first time (the 3.5
instructions are valid for new installations of Version 3.5). If replacing a previous
version of software you must upgrade as described below.
Upgrading
The upgrade from AdvaBuild Version 3.4 to Version 3.5 software requires recording
and saving project data before upgrading as described in the AdvaBuild
Administrator’s Guide Installation section Upgrading to AdvaBuild Version 3.5.
To migrate a database from the HP-UX or Multibus platform to the Windows
platform, see the instructions in the AdvaBuild Migration Guide.
The existing license strings for AdvaBuild v3.3 or 3.4 are not supported by
AdvaBuild v3.5.

Upgrade Controllers
As part of the AdvaBuild 3.5 upgrade procedure, you will need to perform an
upgrade of the controllers to implement fixes to System Services 5.0. Reboot the
controllers (preferred method) or perform an online upgrade.
Refer to the following, as appropriate:
• Advant Controller 460 Users Guide.
• Advant Station 500 Series with AdvaCommand / AdvaBuild Users Guide.
• Operate IT Process Portal B with MOD 300 Connect Operation.
GENERAL INFORMATION
For new or upgrade installations of AdvaBuild 3.5 the Administrator's User Guide
provides the necessary sequence of data backup and the installation procedures.
This supplemental instruction provides additional information needed to install
AdvaBuild 3.5 for use with the external RTA unit.
3BUR001976D3501 35
UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS Section 3 Installation
Before you install AdvaBuild 3.5 and PAS on the AdvaBuild server PC review the
AdvaBuild Administrator's User Guide and the PU410/412 RTA unit user guide
3BUA001442R0001. Your PC will need to be fitted with dual NIC cards to support
the communication between the PC and the RTA unit. Additionally, the ABB
software product RNRP used to report on the health of the dual network connections
between the PC and the RTA unit must be installed. The NIC card configuration and
RNRP installation should be done prior to AdvaBuild and PAS installation.
Information about RNRP can be found in System 800xA Automation System
Network Design and Configuration User Guide 3BSE034463R. This user guide and
the RTA Unit PU410/PU412 User Guide referenced in these instructions can both be
found in appropriately named subdirectories at the root level on the AdvaBuild 3.5
DVD.
UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS
If you are upgrading a previous version of AdvaBuild, perform the data backup
described in the Upgading to AdvaBuild Version 3.5 in the AdvaBuild 3.5
Administrator's User Guide, 3BUR001977R3501.
PREREQUISITES
Microsoft Windows operating system as specified in the AdvaBuild 3.5
Administrator's User Guide.
Dual NIC cards for external RTA unit support as specified in the RTA Unit
PU410/PU412 User Guide.
RNRP INSTALL
RNRP can be found in the root directory of the AdvaBuild 3.5 DVD, or it can be
downloaded from ABB Library or Solutions Bank, software ID 3BSE057944.
36 3BUR001976D3501
Section 3 Installation AdvaBuild INSTALLATION
The RNRP default install is all that is required for support of the external RTA unit.
When configured in an 800xA system or if you desire to install RNRP on other non-
800xA PCs review the RNRP discussion in the PU410/412 RTA Unit User Guide
and the 800xA Automation System Network Design and Configuration User Guide.
If custom configuration is needed, see the System 800xA Automation System
Network Design and Configuration User Guide 3BSE034463R
Double click on the RNRP.msi file and follow the default Next -> Accept -> Next -
> Next -> Install -> Finish installation sequence.
To verify that RNRP is installed:
1. Reboot the node.
2. Check that there is an RNRP icon in the system tray (Figure 1). Click it and
verify that the RNRP monitor is started.
3. Right-click the RNRP icon to verify that the RNRP Wizard is started.
AdvaBuild INSTALLATION
Before installing the AdvaBuild software, install and configure the dual NIC cards
and RNRP as instructed above. Aside from the NIC card and RNRP prerequisites,
the only change in AdvaBuild software installation to utilize the external RTA unit
is the procedure to disable then re-enable the Driver Signing options to prevent the
pop-up dialogs during driver installation.
Follow the AdvaBuild installation instructions as defined in the AdvaBuild 3.5
Administrator's User Guide until the Installing ABB PAS System Services section.
3BUR001976D3501 37
AdvaBuild INSTALLATION Section 3 Installation
The PAS System Services software delivered with AdvaBuild 3.5 includes drivers
for both the existing PU514/515 internal PCI RTABs and the external PU410 or
PU412 RTA units. The software install process will automatically select the correct
RTA drivers based on:
• Internal PCI RTAB installed: The PU514/PU515 drivers will be installed
• No internal PCI RTAB: The PU410/412 drivers for the external RTA unit will
be installed.
Before initiating the PAS install, if using Windows Server 2003 perform the
following:
• Select Control Panel > System > Hardware > Driver Signing.
• Select Ignore in the Driver Signing Options dialog to avoid the need to confirm
multiple warning messages. See figure Figure 2 below.
If you do not select Ignore driver signing, there will be approximately 40 pop-ups
(as shown in Figure 3) that will have to be acknowledged.
38 3BUR001976D3501
Section 3 Installation AdvaBuild INSTALLATION
Finish up the PAS install as described in the AdvaBuild 3.5 Administrator's User
Guide.
At the conclusion of the PAS installation do the following to enable digital signature
signing.
• If using Windows Server 2003; change back to Warn in the Driver Signing
Options dialog box previously shown.
Continue on with the remainder of the AdvaBuild install, Installing AdvaBuild
Software section.
Once the install is complete and the RTA unit is connected and powered up, the
AdvaBuild operation and behavior will be the same whether running an internal PCI
RTAB or the external RTA unit.
