 How to Use these Guidesheets

These guidesheets are specifically made for practicing Copperplate/Engrossers Script. The slant line is set
to 55° and x-height is at 4/16 inch. I’ve also embedded ovals into the guidesheets to provide a visual aid
while you practice. There are 10 guidesheets included in this packet:

1. Ratio 2:1:2 - Copperplate Guidesheet

2. Ratio 2:1:2 - Oval Embedded Lowercase Guidesheet
3. Ratio 2:1:2 - Oval Embedded Uppercase Guidesheet
4. Ratio 3:2:3 - Copperplate Guidesheet
5. Ratio 3:2:3 - Oval Embedded Lowercase Guidesheet
6. Ratio 3:2:3 - Oval Embedded Uppercase Guidesheet
7. 55° Slant Only Guidesheet

Ratio 2:1:2 means that the ascending space is double the x-height. Ratio 3:2:3 means that the ascending
space is 1.5x the x-height. I usually use the 2:1:2 guidesheet to practice but am including both for you to try.
Remember to think ‘ovals’ when writing, keep your downstrokes parallel to the slant line, and write slowly!

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

If you want to write directly on these guidesheets, I recommend HP Premium32 Laserjet paper. You can
also print these guidesheets on regular copy paper and put a sheet of translucent paper on top for practice. I
like either the Canson Pro Layout Marker Pad or Borden & Riley #37 Marker Layout Pad.
