My best friend gave me the best advice

He said each day's a gift and not a given right

Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less travelled by
That first step you take is the longest stride
If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day
(If today was your last day)
Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life
If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day
If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side
If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

Once upon a time, there lived in Sumatra Island a very beautiful girl, Putri
Pinang Masak. The girl was also a very kind-hearted person. This made
everyone liked her so much. Many youths and princes from other countries
desire her to be his wife. Nevertheless, she refused their proposals because
she had not wanted to get married yet.

One day, there was a very wealthy king, the king of the east kingdom, coming
to her village. He proposed to marry her. Putri Pinang Masak was afraid to
refuse the king’s proposal although she actually did not love the king, the
ugly-faced man, at all. She knew that the king would be very angry and there
would be a battle if she refused his desire. Putri Pinang Masak was so
confused before she got an idea to refuse the king’s proposal.

Then she said to the king that she accepted his proposal on one condition.
The king should be able to build a very large and beautiful castle completed
with all of the home appliances in one night. The work must be finished before
the roosters crowded. And if he failed to fulfill the condition, the king had to
hand-over his kingdom and all of the wealth to her.

For the sake of Putri Minang Masak, his sweetheart girl, the king agreed with
the condition. Soon he invited thousands of skillful people from all over the
country even from other country to do the work. And they began to do the
colossal work, building the castle, soon after the sun had set. The king
himself controlled the people.

Exactly in the midnight, half of the castle was completely done. Nevertheless,
it looked very beautiful. And when it was nearly dawn, all the work was
almost completely done. Putri Pinang Masak who had been spying on them all
night became desperate. She realized that the condition she proposed to the
king was only her way to refuse marrying him. And when the castle was only
decorating and tidying the wall and the garden, Putri Pinang Masak went to
the rooster house. She lighted many lights to make roosters crow.

Hearing the crowing of the roosters, the king stopped the workers doing their
work. He remembered the agreement that the whole work should be finished
before the roosters crowed. Then Putri Pinang Masak came to meet the king.
And the king admitted that he had failed to fulfill the condition, building a
castle in one night. Then he gave up on his desire to marry Putri Pinagn
Masak. Even he handed over his kingdom and all of his wealth to her.

Since then, Putri Pinang Masak became the princess of the east kingdom and
people changed the name of the kingdom into Putri Pinang Masak Kingdom.
Meanwhile the kings from Java Island called it with “Jambi Kingdom”. The
word “Jambi” came from “jambe” that had equivalent as the “pinang”, a kind
of small palm fruit.

COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets.
Respiratory droplets travel into the air when you cough, sneeze, talk, shout,
or sing. These droplets can then land in the mouths or noses of people who
are near you or they may breathe these droplets in.

Masks are a simple barrier to help prevent your respiratory droplets from
reaching others. Studies show that masks reduce the spray of droplets when
worn over the nose and mouth.

You should wear a mask, even if you do not feel sick. This is because several
studies have found that people with COVID-19 who never develop symptoms
(asymptomatic) and those who are not yet showing symptoms (pre-
symptomatic) can still spread the virus to other people. Wearing a mask helps
protect those around you, in case you are infected but not showing
symptoms.

It is especially important to wear a mask when you are indoors with people
you do not live with and when you are unable to stay at least 6 feet apart
since COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact with
one another.
A cloth mask also offers some protection to you too. How well it protects you
from breathing in the virus likely depends on the fabrics used and how your
mask is made (such as the type of fabric, the number of layers of fabric, and
how well the mask fits). Some masks work better than others to help slow the
spread of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Elsewhere in the Middle East, Lebanon declared a night-time curfew for the
unvaccinated before and during the holiday season. Its health minister on
Wednesday called it one of the measures to stem a recent rise in coronavirus
infections and a precaution against the new variant.

Lebanon has not recorded any infections with Omicron, but the small country
enduring a severe financial crisis is concerned its healthcare system may not
be able to handle a new peak of infections.

Lebanon’s Health Minister Firass Abiad said the COVID committee wants to
avoid imposing a full lockdown and hopes to encourage more people to get
vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious disease expert, said more
would be known about the Omicron strain in two to four weeks as scientists
grow and test lab samples of the virus.

The World Health Organization expects to have more information on the

transmissibility of the Omicron strain within days, its technical lead on
COVID-19, Maria van Kerkhove, said in a briefing.

She said one possible scenario was the new variant, which was first reported
in Southern Africa, maybe more transmissible than the dominant Delta. She
said it was not yet known if Omicron makes people more ill.

A moonbow (also known as a moon rainbow) is a rainbow produced by

moonlight rather than direct sunlight. Other than the difference in the light
source, its formation is the same as for a solar rainbow: It is caused by the
refraction of light in many water droplets, such as a rain shower or a
waterfall, and is always positioned in the opposite part of the sky from the
Moon relative to the observer.

Moonbows are much fainter than solar rainbows, due to the smaller amount of
light reflected from the surface of the Moon. Because the light is usually too
faint to excite the cone color receptors in human eyes, it is difficult for the
human eye to discern colors in a moonbow. As a result, a moonbow often
appears to be white. However, the colors in a moonbow do appear in long
exposure photographs.

Moonbows have been mentioned at least since Aristotle's Meteorology (circa

350 BC).

During the Covid-19 outbreak, I recommend getting in touch with the

immigration to know the latest update on the operating hours, the process of
passport application, stay permit, etc. You can find their Twitter and their
Instagram info at the end of this article. Stay safe!

This article dedicated to my fellow Indonesians. Do you know that by applying

online for a new passport or passport extension you will avoid so much pain
at the immigration office? For those who live in Jakarta, it doesn’t matter if
your National ID is Jakarta or not, and are thinking of applying or doing the
passport extension in Jakarta, please keep in mind that there is no “walk-in
queue system” anymore. You have to reserve your spot online / through
Whatsapp. I think outside Jakarta you can still walk in, but you better check
this by yourself.

Let’s talk about the online part first. Here is an easy step-by-step guide that
will save lots of time and hassle:

1. You have to register yourself here: https://antrian.imigrasi.go.id/

2. You need to fill in your username, create a desirable password, and add
your National ID card number, phone number, email address and your home
address.
3. You have to confirm your email address. You’ll find a confirmation email
from them and you just need to click the link.
4. Once you’ve done all of the above you can log in to your account and
reserve your spot.
5. Go to the immigration office list page and there you can choose the
immigration office closest to your place or you want to go to and click the
“making request” button.
6. Choose the date, time and the number of applicant(s). If the date appears
grey and can’t be click that means that it has been fully booked. I learned it is
better to use Mozilla as your browser rather than Chrome. Every date turns
grey in Chrome. I am not sure why.
7. Make sure to arrive at your appointment on the scheduled date and the
correct time. It is better to arrive 30 minutes early.
8. To apply for a new passport bring: your identity card, family identity card,
birth certificate/marriage certificate / school certificate (you need to bring the
original documents and also the copy of it. Copy on A4 paper, don’t cut it).
9. Passport EXTENSION: For passports published after 2009 immigration
states you just need your old passport and ID card, but that is not the case. I
still needed to submit exactly the same documents as a new passport
application.
10. On the day that you submit your documents you will need to do an
interview and have your photo and biometric data taken. The interview was
really basic. The kind of questions I got asked included: why do you need to
do this extension, where are you planning to go, etc. I remember it took me
30-45 minutes.
11. Once your document has been submitted you will get the receipt and
payment code. With the payment code, you can do the payment (I did mine
through Klik BCA). The cost: Rp 655,000 for the e-passport and Rp 355,000 for
the normal passport (48 pages).
12. Your passport will be ready to collect 4 working days after you make the
payment.

You can also make your appointment through a phone application too. A lot of
people say that it is easier through the app rather than the website. I really
don’t know why, and I didn’t use the app. At the moment the app is only
available for Android.
