I. OBJECTIVES
A. Learning Objectives At the end of this lesson, students are expected:
1. To identify the major and minor ethnic groups of
China and explain how this diversity has shaped
the China’s history and culture.
2. To develop a sense of appreciation to the land
of China
3. To create an infographic using Canva,
illustrating the importance of the land and
people of China.

A. Technologies PowerPoint Presentation, Google forms, Canva,
Laptop, Cellphone, Internet
IV. LESSON

A. Motivational “TEST YOUR LUCK”


Activity Direction: The teacher will present a video consisting of
different questions, and a little surprise gift. The
student who will be called will prepare their screenshot
button. Once the teacher played the video, students
will take a screenshot and check what they got, it could
be a question or a price.

B. Introduction “Watch and Learn!”


Direction: After having the simple activity, the teacher
will present a video presentation in less than 3 minutes
introducing China. The teacher will choose one
volunteer who will provide a summary of what they
learned from the video that was shown to them.

I. Introduction

 China’s name came from Qin (Chin) emperor, and


Persians and Indians knew the country as “cin” or
“cina”
 “sinae”, “cathay”, or “sino”
 Filipinos – “Tsina”, “intsik” or “singkit”
 ZHONGGUO meaning Middle Kingdom
 Three Chinas – People’s Republic of China, Republic
of China, and overseas Chinese in other countries

II. Landscape
- The eastern half of China is one of the world’s best
farmlands with three great rivers:

1. Huang Ho (Yellow)

2. Chang (Yangtze)
3. XI

 main occupation - Farming


 Food basket of the world
 Grows 1/3 of world peanuts and 1/6 of soybeans.

III. People

- Belong to yellow race, descended from Han (92%),


Mongol, Tartar, and other tribes in Asia.
- Slender physique, medium height and slant, almond
eyes, they are resilient, frugal, industrious, and
patient.
- Mandarin – official language due to communist
takeover
- Atheist (old beliefs of ancestors’ worship, geomancy
etc.)
- Some of the oldest ethical and folk beliefs came from
China – Confucianism and practices like ancestor
worship, acupuncture, geomancy, etc.
- Major cities – Beijing (Peking) the capital, and
Shanghai the largest city.

D. Application INFOGRAPHIC

Teacher will divide the class into two(2) groups. Using


canva, each group are expected to create an
infographic about the importance of the land and
people of China. The first group will be having the
importance of the land, and group 2 will have the
importnace of the people.

E. Generalization
“WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?”

Direction: Using the one arm bandit name picker,


teacher will call student to share his/her learnings in
the discussion.

Direction. Answer the following through google forms


created by the teacher.

G. Assignment
Direction: Research and write a paragraph about the
ethnic diversity of China. Include information about the
different ethnic groups that make up China, their
population size, and their distribution within the
country. Write it down in a clear bond paper, take a
picture of it and upload in the gdrive provided by the
teacher.
