Thanks to Allah’s grace, mercy, and protection we could finally


complete this book on time. Also, we would like to thank all of the people who
had participated in helping us finish this “Tragic Mosaic” drama scripts
anthology. In this very special book introduction, we also want to thank our
lecturer and practitioner in guiding us through the time. Without their patient
direction, reaching this point would be hard for us. Lastly, we would like to

PHANTOM REUNION

SYNOPSIS
Missing her mother's love, Kiara seeks
attention by disturbing and envying her 'other'
seed at the same time. Kiara only wanted a little
love that Mara would give, just like she gave to
Mara's son, Anwar. However, the reunion of this
daughter and mother is not going smoothly, as Kiara
wishes, and blood is needed.

SCENE 1. (ARGO’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT)


ARGO
[ARGO sitting on the chair. The room
is in a mess. The empty bottles are
scattered on the floor. ARGO
drinks up the last
bottle]
God damn it!
[ARGO throwing the bottle to the
floor]

KIARA
[KIARA enters the living room.
KIARA looks tired. KIARA does not
even mind ARGO sitting down on the
chair. As KIARA enters, KIARA
kicks several bottles that
interfere her way. KIARA glances
at ARGO with disgust]

ARGO
Oh, sweetheart. You‟re home.

KIARA
[KIARA does not answer]

ARGO
You got drinks for me? I‟ve run out of these a
while ago.

KIARA
[KIARA keeps ignoring ARGO and
remains quiet]

ARGO
You ignore me! Here, you come here.
[ARGO standing up]

KIARA
STOP! JUST PLEASE STOP! You‟re so disgusting you
know that!

ARGO
What‟d you say?
[ARGO slaps KIARA]

KIARA
[KIARA touches her cheek, enduring
the pain]

ARGO
[ARGO points his finger to KIARA.
ARGO staggered]
Just because- you‟ve had a job and money, you don't
have the right to insult ME! You should know
that!

KIARA

Why? Does that hurt your feeling?

[Mocking tone]

ARGO

This witch! You test me again!

[ARGO slaps KIARA again until


KIARA falls to the floor]

KIARA

You know, I can insult you whenever I want. Frankly


speaking, you look like a complete loser now. No
more than a PARASITE!

ARGO
Then why don‟t you GO! You can go from here if
you‟re sick of me. WHY DO YOU STAY HERE? Huh? Or
do you really believe she'd return to this filthy
house?

[ARGO smirking]

She is a witch. She won‟t come back.

KIARA
[KIARA staring at ARGO with anger]

ARGO (CONT ‘D’)
[ARGO approaches KIARA and grabs
KIARA’s cheeks]
Now the more I look at it, you really look like
her. That stare- is really the same. I won‟t be
surprised if one day you‟ll stab me in the back
and laugh. And on another day, you‟d run away
with a fucking guy. You‟re no different than
her!
KIARA
You don‟t have the right to say that. See it for
yourself in the fucking mirror.

ARGO
We don‟t have a mirror sweetheart. Don‟t you
realize that? We live without it the whole time.
[ARGO standing up and then leaving
the room]

KIARA
[KIARA doing a monologue. Then,
KIARA taking the old and broken MARA
picture out of her bag. Then KIARA
start to tearing it up]
THIS IS YOUR FAULT! If you don‟t leave me, if you
don't love another guy, my life won't be ruined
like this! I hope your family is destroyed like
we are.
[Not long after that, KIARA
standing up and wiping her tears,
and then walking off the stage]

SCENE 2. RAFIQ’S LIVING ROOM - THE NEXT DAY
MORNING)

[ANWAR tying his shoes while eating bread


in his mouth. RAFIQ watching ANWAR
and then smiles. RAFIQ busy on his
tablet]

RAFIQ

It‟s a big day, huh?

ANWAR

[Chuckles]

Not really.

MARA

[MARA appears]

Oh my God, finish your food first, or you gonna


get choked, dear.

RAFIQ

Let him be, Darling. It seems he‟s super


energetic today.

ANWAR

[ANWAR finishes tying his shoes]

This bread is so good! Mom, can I bring some?

MARA
Alright. I‟ll pack it for you. Wait a minute.
[MARA goes out to pack some bread
for ANWAR]

ANWAR
So, Dad? Is everything going well?

RAFIQ
What is „going well‟?

ANWAR
Come one, Dad. Isn‟t it obvious? It‟s your
company.

RAFIQ
It‟s okay they‟re not going anywhere.
[Jokingly]

ANWAR
[Laughing]
You got me there.

RAFIQ
Why you suddenly ask this? You‟ve never been so
curious about this before.

ANWAR
Yeah. But, that‟s the reason why I took Business
Management, Dad. I mean, I should know the
situation.

RAFIQ
You act like a mature. Please don‟t.

ANWAR
Come on, Dad. I‟m 18.

RAFIQ
[RAFIQ standing up and touching
ANWAR’s hair]
You still look like a baby.
[After that, RAFIQ wearing his
suit]

ANWAR
Dad, please.
[Taking RAFIQ’s hand off his hair]

Darling, I am going now.

MARA
Wait! Wait! Your bag!

[MARA delivering RAFIQ’s bag]


Here.

RAFIQ
Thank you. Ah, I‟m gonna be late later, so, you
can have dinner without me.

MARA
Alright. But, please no matter how busy it is,
don‟t skip the meal.

RAFIQ
I promise.
[Smiling and holding MARA’S hand]
Oh, Son, do you wanna like- go with me?

ANWAR
No, thanks, Dad. That makes me look like a
spoiled kid.

ANWAR
[Sighs]
Whatever.
[Opening his smartphone]

RAFIQ
[RAFIQ only smiling]
Okay then. Bye.
MARA
Be careful.
[Both of them then say goodbye to
each other]
Well, do you want Mr. Ali to give you a ride?
ANWAR
No, Mom. Then, what‟s the point I don‟t go with
Dad?
MARA
Then?
ANWAR
Look, I‟ve ordered it.
[Showing his smartphone to MARA]

Oh.
[Nodding]

ANWAR
[ANWAR gets surprised when looking
at his smartphone and standing up]
SHIT!

MARA
What did you say?

[Scolding tone]
ANWAR
Oh- I‟m really sorry mom. The new teaching
assistant will be there earlier to do the
attendance check.

MARA
Well, you can go with Mr. Ali then.

No. Car will not work this time.
[ANWAR calling BAYU to check the
information]
Hello, Bayu. Will she be there earlier?
[A few seconds pause]
Uh-huh. What‟s wrong with her? What‟s her name
again? Kiara, right?
[KIARA’s name shocked MARA. MARA
stunned for a while. But, think
positively that there are probably
a hundred women in Indonesia with
that name]
Oh. I see. Thanks. See you.
[ANWAR turns off the call]
Oh, my driver‟s here.
MARA
Wha- what‟s your teaching assistant's name again?
ANWAR
It‟s Kiara.

MARA
Have you met her?
ANWAR
Of course not. Well, technically I will. She is
the new teaching assistant.

ANWAR
What‟s wrong, Mom? You know her?

MARA
No. Just- just a familiar name actually. Off you
go.
ANWAR
Oh, Alright. Bye, Mom.

SCENE 3. (IN THE UNIVERSITY’S CLASSROOM -
MORNING)
ANWAR
[ANWAR entering the classroom]
Hi, guys!

HERI, TINA, FIAN


Hey!

HERI
Our favorite boy! You good?

ANWAR
Never better.
[Whispering to BAYU]
Hey, I‟m not late, right?
BAYU
Of course not. Here, sit over here.
[BAYU shows the seat beside him to
ANWAR]
TINA
By the way, I didn‟t see you this holiday.

FIAN
Well, he must be all around the world, right?
Where‟d you go this time?

ANWAR
Um- Swiss.

HERI, BAYU, TINA, FIAN


Wow.
HERI
You really on another level, man. I don‟t even know
how what‟s like to be on a plane. Yet here you
going all around the world. So crazy.
TINA
Stop lying, Heri!

HERI
Why? It‟s true!
FIAN
So, Anwar the next time you‟ll go on vacation
bring him in your suitcase.
[ANWAR only smiling]
HERI
Wow. That would be a good idea. I think I could
fit in.
FIAN
You can‟t! Look at you.

[HERI standing up to show his body
but then suddenly, KIARA entering
the class. And all students starts
to be quiet]

KIARA
[Sitting on the chair and
preparing the documents]
Good morning everyone.

ALL
Good morning.
[All of them start to prepare the
book]
KIARA
[KIARA scanning the class]
So, I thought I‟ve announced it, yet only a few
people are here.
[Sarcastic tone]

BAYU
[With tiny voice]
But you only announce it this morn-

ANWAR
[The voice starts to fade as ANWAR
stops him. ANWAR signalling BAYU
to not continue his words]
Shhh..

KIARA
Anyway, I‟ll just check who‟s here already. You
can say your name starts from the right.

FIAN
My name is Fian Abdullah.

KIARA
Next.

HERI
My name is Heri Indrawan.

KIARA
Next.

BAYU
My name is Bayu SenOpati.

KIARA
Okay, Next.

ANWAR
My name is Anwar Winslow.
[KIARA stops as hearing the
familiar family name]

KIARA
Wha- what? What‟s your name again? Can you repeat
it?

ANWAR
Anwar Winslow.
KIARA
Oh, Okay. Keep going.

[KIARA is shocked hearing ANWAR’s


name but she trying to remain
calm]
TINA
My name is Tina
KIARA
Okay. Next.
EXTRA 1
My name is Windy.

Okay.
[The characters in class act like
they all studying in a class]
[The class is over. ANWAR taking out
some bread from his bag and then
ANWAR standing up and delivering
the bread. KIARA packing up the
documents]
ANWAR
Hey, I got something for you all. TADAA!

TINA
Oh, you‟re so sweet.
ANWAR
It‟s nothing, man. Come on take it.
[ANWAR giving the bread to HERI,
BAYU, TINA, FIAN while they are
still sitting]
HERI
Thanks, Anwar.

[Chuckles]
No worries.
[HERI and FIAN start eating the
bread until KIARA starts to call
ANWAR]

KIARA
Um. Anwar.
[KIARA speaks hesitantly]
[ANWAR, HERI, BAYU, TINA, FIAN
looking at KIARA]
ANWAR
Me?
[Hand signaling to himself]

KIARA
Yes. Do you have time?
ANWAR
[ANWAR looking at his friends.
ANWAR trying to understand the
situation. All his friends also
look confused. HERI busy munching
the bread]

Only with Anwar.

[HERI and FIAN rush to stop eating


their bread and all of them start
packing their bag]
BAYU
Ah. Then we‟ll go to the canteen first. See you
there, buddy.
[Waving his hand]

TINA
Bye, Anwar.
[Waving her hands]

HERI
We‟ll eat first. And thank you again for this.
[Pointing at the bread]
ANWAR
Yeah. See you there.
FIAN
You got this, Man.

[FIAN tapping ANWAR’s shoulder]

What do you mean?

[FIAN left ANWAR confused. HERI,


BAYU, TINA, and FINA left the
classroom. ANWAR walks toward
KIARA’s desk]
Do you wanna discuss something?

KIARA
[KIARA writing something on her
desk while ANWAR standing in front
of her desk]
Yes. So, I am curious about something. I‟m
surprised you enter this uni and took this major
remembering how wealthy your family is and able
to study abroad and get the best uni there.
ANWAR
Ah. About that. Uhm… I just wanna stay close to
my family and make them proud by taking this major.

KIARA
So, you‟re a good son?

Well, not really. I mean- I‟ve disappointed them
many times.

KIARA
But that‟s not a problem, right? I mean, you have
a great father, Rafiq Winslow. He is such a
successful businessman. You know, I‟ve seen him
many times in seminars. And I can say he is a
hardworking and passionate person. What I mean,
at first, I hate the business field so much. But
after hearing his lecture, I become motivated
more in studying business. At that time, I felt
that, “Ah, finally I see a hope in my life”.

ANWAR
A hope? You seem like having a hard time.

Everyone has it, right? But I think that time was
the worst.
[ANWAR looks sympathizes but also
confused]
So, when I look at your father, I think, HE MUST
BE MARRIED TO A GREAT WOMAN. Because there must
always be a great woman behind a great man. Isn‟t
it?
ANWAR
Yeah. She is the best.

KIARA
Ah, I see.
[Chuckle and change to serious
tone]
I become curious about her. What‟s her name?

ANWAR
Mara Winslow.
KIARA
Ah, Mara. Her name rings a bell with me.

ANWAR
Really? To whom then?

[Serious tone]

ANWAR
[ANWAR surprised for a few
seconds]

KIARA
Yeah. The difference is my mother left me and
married a new guy.
ANWAR
[ANWAR looks confused]
Wait. Are you serious?

KIARA
That‟s a common name, isn‟t it?
[Paying attention to ANWAR while
smiling]
ANWAR
Yeah. That‟s right.

KIARA
Oh, no. Did you assume she is the same person?
Your mother and mine?

Nope. It's just really weird for a coincidence.
KIARA
Right? Uhm. Maybe, I‟ll say it more to be a
destiny.
ANWAR
Destiny?
[Dumbfounded]

KIARA
Yeah. Like when you thought your life is so great
that a scar is not found. Don‟t you think it is a
result of another person‟s hell? A happiness that
comes from despair.

ANWAR
I don‟t get it.
[Confused tone]
What are you trying to say?

KIARA
No worries. You‟ll get that soon.
[KIARA standing up]
Alright, it‟s really nice talking with you,
Anwar. I hope to see you more often, maybe even
outside this class.

Um..yeah. Really nice to chat with you too.
[Awkwardly]
Well then, I‟ll go first. Have a nice day!

KIARA
You too.
[Smirking towards ANWAR]

SCENE 4. (ARGO’S LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON)
ARGO
[ARGO drinking and sitting on the
couch]
You already home, huh? So, you gotta lot of
money?

KIARA
[KIARA walking toward ARGO, going
to his behind, taking off her
jacket, and then laughing
sarcastically]
No wonder she left you. So much crap from you.
Don‟t you know that your ex-wife lives her best
life, with her new guy and kid?

ARGO
[ARGO walking toward KIARA]
You wish to be dead huh?
KIARA
Just kill me already then!
[Grabs ARGO’s hand to put it on
her neck]

ARGO
You BASTARD!
[ARGO still choking KIARA really
hard until KIARA falls]
Do you think I wanna live like this? Hah? I‟ve
worked hard on my job! But your MOTHER! She was
never satisfied with me. She told me to get more.
So, I decided to deceive my colleague and corrupt
the fund. Then they fire me! The next day I know,
she was already with another man. Who‟s at fault?
Tell ME!
KIARA
Then why did you obey her?!
ARGO
I thought she is the one for me. I thought I was
the only world for her. I trusted her with my life!
So, I‟ll go with whatever she told me to do.
That‟s why, the more I think about that moment
the more I hate her. Yet you‟re here having
the same stare and smile. You remind me of her a
lot.

KIARA
You‟re crazy. I am your daughter. How can you do
this to me?!
[Mad tone]

What‟s the difference? You‟re as psycho as her.
Her genes are in your body. You can‟t deny it.

KIARA
YOU ARE MAD!

ARGO
I AM MAD!
[ARGO grabs the chair and then
slamming the chair to KIARA makes
KIARA screaming and scared. After
that, ARGO leaves]

[KIARA cries and goes to the
corner of the room. KIARA sad and
upset at the same time. Then,
KIARA takes out MARA’s picture
from her pocket]
This is all your fault! You don‟t deserve to live
happily like that! You should feel the pain as much
as I feel right now.
[KIARA tearing up the photo. After
that, KIARA wipes her tears and
takes her laptop from her bag, and
prints the photos. And then KIARA
smiling evilly]

SCENE 5. (UNIVERSITY’S HALLWAY - MORNING)

[TINA standing leaning lazily on


the wall corridor, the left hand
in the pocket and the right hand
holding the phone. HERI eating gum
while wearing the tote bag facing
TINA on the left side TINA. FIAN
crouching holding the phone. At
the same time, they receive the same
news that makes them angry and
disgusted. ANWAR suddenly walks
in front of TINA, HERI, FIAN]

TINA
This is so disgusting. A whore comes after a rich
man?

HERI
No wonder she never shows her face, so THIS is
the reason.

FIAN
Maybe she‟s only showing her face at night, guys.
Like at the brothel?
[Three of them laughing]

[ANWAR looks confused that three
of them laughing at ANWAR]
Hey- hey. What? What happened?

TINA
You famous Anwar. See for yourself.

ANWAR
[ANWAR does not understand what
PEOPLE talking about. ANWAR
confused and going to the bulletin
board alone where a group of
people gathers]
GROUP OF PEOPLE
[The students gather around in
front of the bulletin board and
ANWAR tries to go there and see
but on the way, ANWAR falls after
FIAN nudged ANWAR's shoulder]

Can you all just tell me what fuck is going on
here?
[ANWAR looks confused while
looking at his friends’
expressions]
[BAYU comes and helps ANWAR to stand
up]
BAYU
You okay?
ANWAR
No! Everybody is staring at me like that! Just
tell me!
[While cleaning dust on his pant]
BAYU
Listen. It‟s chaos here. That thing has been
there this morning and I don‟t know who put that.
And here.
[BAYU showing his smartphone to
ANWAR]
It‟s also spread out on the group chat. You
haven‟t seen it yet?

I didn‟t know that. Lemme see it-
[ANWAR taking BAYU’s smartphone
and reading the information about
his family on it]
This is about my family, right? Bayu, who sent it
first?
BAYU
It was anonymous. Someone got it on our
university‟s website. And then everyone just
keeps forwarding it to the group chat.
ANWAR
No wonder everyone looking at me like that.
ALL STUDENTS
[Everyone is looking at ANWAR with
disgust, scornfully, and leaves
ANWAR alone, only BAYU left]
BAYU
Are you alright?

ANWAR
Do I look like I am okay? TELL ME! Shit! I‟m
sorry I just- just need to find out who did
this.
[Speaking in upset tone]

Anwar, I try to understand it. I mean- the woman
is really your mother. And this looks real. So I

ANWAR

PAST! WHY‟D YOU KEEP ASKING THAT?
BAYU
Hey, I was only asking. You don‟t need to freak
out.

ANWAR
Please- just leave me alone. I need time.

I‟m still here when others already left, Anwar!
Yeah, you sure you need time. But, you don't need
me anymore.
[BAYU left in disappointment.
ANWAR is annoyed]

ANWAR
What the HELL IS THIS?
[While staring at the poster on
the bulletin board]
She cheated on her husband? What kind of bullshit
is this?
[ANWAR tearing up the poster/flyer
on the bulletin board. Then, ANWAR
taking his smartphone to call
MARA]
MOM! There‟s news about you! It is said that you
cheated on you ex-husband. And you know what? I
am at rock bottom now. Just- explain to me RIGHT
NOW.
[ANWAR leaves the corridor and
runs away with anger and
hurriedly]

SCENE 6. (IN THE LIVING ROOM - EVENING)
[KIARA in the living room. KIARA
sitting on the couch peacefully.
KIARA playing with her phone and
laughing happily because of what
happened on campus]
KIARA
Man, the campus is on fire right now. I can‟t
believe this plan worked so well. How easy. Mom,
this is the start. I won‟t go easy until you
suffered.
MARA
[Suddenly MARA knocking on the
door]
Hello, anyone there?

KIARA
[KIARA opening the door]

MARA
[MARA enters the room and suddenly
looks confused and feels awkward]
Are you Kiara?

KIARA
Yes, I am. Please have a seat.

[MARA searches for the best place
to seat. But the place looks dirty
for MARA. Then, MARA put her bag and
scarf on the couch to sit down]

KIARA
Is there something wrong? You don‟t look
comfortable.
[Sitting down]

MARA
Well, this place getting worse than the last time
I remember.
[MARA looking around the living
room]

KIARA
So? Is there a reason why you come here?

MARA
It‟s about my son, Anwar.

KIARA
Your son? Who is he?

Anwar. Anwar Winslow.

KIARA
Anwar Winslow? Who?

MARA
Don‟t pretend to be dumb. You know what I‟m
talking about!

KIARA
Calm down. You don‟t have to scream. You are
wasting energy.

MARA
Kiara, I ask you once again. You did something to
Anwar, right? Don‟t act fool.
KIARA
[Smirking]
MARA
What don‟t you answer me? Huh? Are you deaf?
[Standing up]
Is this money enough for you to open your mouth?!
[Showing the money]

MARA

KIARA

MARA
Shut your mouth! You are just shameful just like
your Dad.

KIARA

after money!

MARA

You‟re so hypocrite! You also need money, right?

[Throwing some money at Kiara]

about MONEY, MONEY, AND MONEY to you! Just as you
left Dad and getting a rich husband.

Hahaha! Even with every drop of your blood, you


can‟t pay how much my pain is because of you!

MARA

[Mara scoffs and cut off her


words]

Huh! You just want the money, right? Won‟t that


amount of money is enough for you to leave my son
alone?

KIARA

Please, Mom. Are you not gonna ask me, how I have
been?

[Kiara trembling]

Oh, don‟t call me, MOM. Because, for me, you


don‟t even exist. You‟ve been erased from my
life. So, leave me alone!

[MARA taking her bag, turning


around and then walking away]

KIARA

[Immediately taking MARA’s scarf


on the couch and suffocates MARA
very hard from behind until MARA
stops struggling and dead. MARA
then falls while being hugged by
KIARA]

Synopsis
A complex relationship between brothers Joel

SYNOPSIS
After graduating from the university, Kiran and
Rico made a life-changing decision to return to
their village in Sumatera, driven by a shared
vision to uplift and develop their community. Their
goal was to introduce innovative ideas and farming
techniques to the predominantly agricultural
village of Malaka, where the residents relied
solely on farming for their livelihoods.
Meanwhile, a wealthy businessman named Beni and
his secretary, Monica, ventured into the area with
ambitious plans to expand Beni's business empire.
There, he offered the chief financial incentives
in exchange for supporting his ambitious plans to
transform the village. Fuelled by a sense of
injustice, the farmers, alongside Kiran, rallied
for justice and devised a plan to confront Beni
directly.
"Who Do You Call" explores the themes of power,
injustice, murder, corruption, and the resilience
of a society faced with exploitation. The story
follows the villagers' struggle to

everything, the law protect money, we lost our
right, and they kill our humanity. Who do I call?

consequence? Or is it how the law works? Who‟s going
