Fan-in is a term that defines the maximum number of digital inputs that a single

Fan in:
logic gate can accept or available in a gate.

Fan Out: Fan-out is a term that defines the maximum number of digital inputs that the
output of a single logic gate can feed. Also it specifies the number of standard loads
that the output of a typical gate can drive without impairing its normal operation
High State Fan-out = IOH (max) / IIH Low State

Fan-out = IOL (max) / IIL

Noise Margin:Maximum external noise voltage added to an input signal that does not
cause an undesirable change in the circuit output. This shows how the logic gate is
immune to the external noise.
Logic Gate Voltage Levels

High V IH -Minimum Input Voltage which will

be considered as logic ‘1’.
V IL- Maximum Input Voltage which
will be considered as logic ‘0’
V OH -Minimum Output Voltage which
will be considered as logic ‘1’.
Low
V OL-Maximum output Voltage which
will be considered as logic ‘0’.

High State Margin=V OH -V IH

Low State Margin=V IL-V OL
