CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will describe the method of research design‚ the
instrument used for gathering the data, and statistical treatment of data.

Research Design
The study employed a quantitative descriptive research design.
Descriptive research is a methodological approach that aims to gather
factual information and provide an accurate and reliable description of
individuals, situations, or groups. It involves an interpretation and
explanation that is sufficient, and its applicability extends to various
subjects, making it highly influential in the lives of the individuals
involved.
In this particular research investigation, a Descriptive Research
approach was used, employing a questionnaire to examine the effects of
extracurricular activities on the leadership skills of various club and
organization officers at Rosales National High School. A descriptive
research design can use a wide variety of research methods to
investigate one or more variables (Shona McCombes, 2023) The data
collected from the respondents plays a vital role in addressing the issue
and devising practical recommendations and solutions.

Sampling
The researchers will employ purposive sampling to select
respondents for this study. Specifically, ten (15) students who hold
positions in clubs or organizations will be chosen. This criterion is
necessary due to the large number of respondents and to ensure the
collected data is valid and relevant.

Data Gathering Instrument

To conduct this study, the researchers used a self-utilized
questionnaires as a tool for gathering the necessary information. These
questionnaires were carefully crafted and validated. Once the
questionnaires were approved, the researchers obtained consent from
the participants through a letter, requesting their participation in
completing the survey. On the other hand, the purpose of the study was
explained, and the questionnaires were personally distributed to
selected students at Rosales National High School. Upon completion, the
researchers collected and organized the data for interpretation. To
protect the confidentiality of the respondents, all gathered data was
encrypted and shall be utilized for research purposes only.

Statistical Treatment of the Data

The statistical tools to be used to analyse and interpret the results of
the study are percentage mean to determine the effects of
Extracurricular Activities in terms of Leadership skills among the officers
of different clubs and organizations in the Rosales National High School.
The following statistical techniques will employ in the analysis and
interpretation of the results:
Percentage. These will use to determine the classroom participations of
students who have a organization and club position at Rosales National
High School.
Formula = P Fx100
N
Where:
P— Percentage
F— Frequency
N— Total number or respondents
Mean. These will use to determine the classroom participations of
students who have a organization and club position at Rosales National
High School.
Formula = X = ΣΧ
N
Where:
X = Mean
EX = Sum of all values in the dataset
N = Number of values in the dataset
ANOVA. These will use to determine the classroom participations of
students who have a organization and club position at Rosales National
High School.
Formula F = MSB
MSE
Where:
F = Mean sum of squares between the groups (MSB)/ Mean squares of
Errors (MSE).
