CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods to be used in the study. It describes the respondents of

the study, an instrument to be used, the procedure of data gathering, research design, and the

statistical treatment of the data.

This study will determine the most effective school strategies for reducing waste.

RESEARCH DESIGN

This study used a non-experimental design. This design determines the situation added

the descriptive method of research is used to describe the nature of a situation as it exists at the

time of study and to explore the cause of particular phenomena, strategies as well as local

documents received and data on the school participation in the community.

INSTRUMENT OF THE STUDY

The following instrument will be used in the conduct of the study:

Questionnaire. The questionnaire will be used to assess the most effective school strategies and

how they use those strategies.

Interview. Interviews can use in this study and though interview we can ask our subject a

question and get an answer on him orally.

The Supreme Student of Government will validate the questionnaire. The correction and

suggestions will be included in the draft for the next stage of validation. The 13 Supreme Student
of Government’s will be the final respondents to answer the questionnaires. Their responses will

be tested for reliability.

RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

The respondents of this study whose responsible for being a good example of reducing

waste are the Supreme Student of Government officers in a public secondary school in Balatong

B. Pulilan, Bulacan that were selected in the school year 2019-2020. The sampling technique

used was Slovin's formula as a sampling in which the researcher relies on a group that responds

to participate in the study.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

To survey the most effective school strategies on reducing waste, the researcher gives a

questionnaire to the Supreme Student of Government officer. Those answers served as the

opinion of the students.

The respondent that the researcher selected will be the one who answers the questionnaire

regarding on effectiveness of the strategies on reducing waste.

The questionnaire that the researchers needed for the study is composed of 4 parts the name,

year and section, gender and the questions that the researcher gave.

After the survey was done, all the data gathered were tailed and interpreted.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT

The researcher will use the following statistical treatment to process the data:
1. Percentages. According to Calmorin (1997), the percentage is a way of expressing a

proportion, a ratio, or a fraction of a whole number by using 100 as a denominator.

F
Formula: Percentage= N×100%

where: F- frequency

N- population

2. Weighted mean. This refers to the set of data taken from the average of the population

(Broto, 2006).

∑ fx
Formula: WM= N

where: WM- weighted mean

∑ fx- a sum of the products of the frequency with weights

N- sample size
