Taking a Look at Streptococcus Pyogenes
Streptococcus Pyogenes is a Gram positive, nonmotile, nonsporeforming coccus that
occurs in chains or in pairs of cells. (Todar s Online Book of Bacteriology) In history,
Streptococcus pyogenes got its ill repute as the cause of puerperal fever, a life threatening
disease that was seen in women after childbirth, until Ignaz Semmelweis exposed that it
could be stopped by physicians just washing their hands before each vaginal
examination.( Live Strong) S. pyogenes is one of the most frequent pathogens found in
humans. An estimate of between 5 15% of humans port the bacterium S. pyogenes
without any symptoms of illness. S. pyogenes can be usually found habituating in the
respiratory tract of humans. Several infections cause by Streptococcus Pyogenesincludes
pharyngitis, or better known as strep throat, scarlet fever, impetigo, cellulitis, and
rheumatic fever. (Todar s Online Book of Bacteriology)
Morphology and Classification
Streptococcus pyogenes is categorized on the origin of colony morphology, hemolysis,
and biochemical reactions. .Streptococcus pyogenes is a sphere shaped bacterium or
cocci that appear in chain like constructions. It stains purple when the Gram stain
system is used. This indicates that S.pyogenes is a gram positive bacterium. When the
bacterium is grown on agar with sheep blood, it appears as a glowing colony with a
region of hemolysis surrounding the colony. This is a result to the precise enzymes that
are produced by Streptococcus pyogenes. S.
Promiscuity Vs Sexual Addiction
Human Sexual promiscuity has been around since the existence of Human Beings. To
clearly understand and define sexual promiscuity there must be a distinction made
between the difference between sexual promiscuity and sexual addiction because they are
controversially close in definition. Looking at the word sexual addiction itself any
scholar would then presume that with addiction in the word, the definition would then
be: a person pathologically habituated to sexual behaviors. In comparison, promiscuity is
similar, defined with the same definition based upon different societal standards, genders
and civil status.

Depression was found to be a common outcome of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
On average, CSA victims were pre teens at the time of their first experience and
perpetrators were approximately 16 years older than their victims were. Over half of the

The results of the Gullete Lyons (2006) confirmed and extended prior research
indicating high prevalence levels of childhood sexual abuse. The men s CSA
experiences were characterized by high levels of penetrative sex, physical force and
perceptions of these events as distressing, Gullete Lyons (2006).

Descriptive Essay About A Organ Concert
At first, I did not know what I was truly getting into with taking this course. I did not
know what type of materials that would be taught because I have never taken a music
class before. Let alone have I ever been to a concert before, on February 18th I went to
the Pipe Organ Festival about thirty minutes away from campus. Since this was my first
time going to a professional concert, I did not know what to expect. The concert was
very different than I expected but thankfully I ended up having a great experience and
learned a lot about the organwith listening to the different organists; Mathew Gerhard,
Raina Wood, and Patricia Rozeboom. The first organistwho presented their talents was
Raina Wood, and her song choices were very much of... Show more content on

Mathew is from Kokomo, Indiana and I thought it was cool to find that out because
that s where I am from as well. I think what drew me to liking him out of everyone was
the song choice, people could sing along, and the crowd was able to enjoy the sounds of
the organ with familiar songs. The first song Mathew played was The Star Spangled
Banner this song was played beautifully on the organ, everyone in the room stood and
it made it feel like we were almost united, even though the room was full of strangers.
It was nice to realize that we all could salute our country together with just a song, and
I think that is very powerful that music is able to do that. The organist did not use to
traditional keys for this song, he used multiple variations of the keys that kept the
crowd intrigued because he was changing up the sound every so often. The organ was
incredibly loud and could put off such a massive vibration of sound. The next song on
this list was the ever so famous, When She Loved me from Toy Story. This was
absolutely my favorite song played within the whole festival because I was able to
relate how the song is normally sung with how Mathew played the organ and what notes
he used to replicate the calmness of this song. The organist did a great job reflecting the

The Characteristics Of Dionysus
If you ever have a celebration, make sure to invite the life of the party and wine
supplier, Dionysus. Dionysus is one of the Twelve Olympians. He took over Hestia s
position on Mount Olympus when she left, making him the last Greek mythology
figure to arrive on Mount Olympus ( Dionysus Facts and Information ). However, he
does not reside there often as he holds a domain over the earth and wanders around
teaching winemaking skills to men. In his wanderings, Dionysus can be caught
carrying his thyrsus, a staff wrapped with ivy with a pine cone tip, and his most
recognizable symbol. Dionysus is not only the wildest of all the gods; he is also very
unique and has a diverse personality. Dionysus is the wildest Greek mythologyfigure. He

Since Dionysus was born to a god the second time, he became an immortal god
himself. Being born mortal then born again as a god makes him unique. Dionysus has
a very diverse personality, and his story is an emotional rollercoaster. He has a dual
nature, or two main personas: of rage and of joy ( Dionysus). Dionysus is very quick
to get revenge as seen in almost all myths involving him. One myth involves the king
of Thebes ( Dionysus Bacchus, the Wanderer ). King Pentheus did not believe
Dionysus to be a god and would not allow any female Thebes citizen to attend his
parties. This angered Dionysus greatly, so he made the king appear as a wild animal to
all the Theban women. They ripped him to pieces and thus Dionysus obtained adequate
revenge against King Pentheus. But Dionysus s vengeful nature did not exclude him
from having any other emotions; he experiences great grief in another myth. This myth
includes the hero Ikarios, whom Dionysus taught winemaking to ( Dionysus Greek
God of Wine and Festivity ). Ikarios gave the wine to some shepherds who, with no
knowledge of the effects of wine, thought he had poisoned them and murdered Ikarios.
Upon hearing of the death of his hero, Dionysus became mournful and placed Ikarios in
the sky as the constellation Bootes. Feeling so many different emotions and having such
various personas makes for Dionysus to possess a very
Performance Enhancing Drugs Sports Today
Max Holt Mrs. Louis Research, period 3 December 15, 2013 Performance Enhancing
Drugs In Sports Today Performance enhancing drugs, or steroids, have long been in
the lifestyle of athletes. Many famous athletes like Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez,
Marion Jones and Lance Armstrong have all confessed to the use of steroids.
Celebrities like actor Charlie Sheen and ex Governor of California, Arnold
Schwarzenegger, have also admitted to using steroids in the past. Performance
enhancing drugs are a dangerous form of medicine and are most often used for sports.
Although used by many athletes hoping for a leg up on their opponents, steroids have
many dangerous side effects to the human body. These drugs have a long history,
starting with their creation by French physiologist Charles Brown Sequard in 1889.
Athletes who are known to have used steroids shouldn t be allowed into their sport s
Hall of Fame for many reasons, chief among them being that steroids are against the
rules in all sports. Another reason is that steroids give a large unfair advantage to the
athletes who use them. Two of the most well known steroid users of this generation are
Lance Armstrong, the renowned cyclist and Alex Rodriguez, an ex New York Yankees
player . Anyone who is known to have used performance enhancing drugs in their past
shouldn t be allowed into the highest honor for their career, whether the highest point is
the Hall of Fame or the Oval Office. Corticosteroids, known as steroids or
The Problem Of Reducing Water Quality
Only about 1% of all of the water that is on Earth is considered to be surface water such
as lakes and rivers, however, the usable freshwater to us humans is only about .003%
which we generally use for drinking, bathing, agriculture, or industry purposes.
Unfortunately, pollution is reducing our few water resources even further on a global
scale albeit mostly in developed countries. The United Nations have assessed the situation
well in that, Declining water quality has become a global issue of concern as human
populations grow, industrial and agricultural activities expand, and climate change
threatens to cause major alterations to the hydrological cycle (Decade). This threat to our
planet is mainly anthropological and has been growing... Show more content on

Water pollution can be distributed from either a point or a non point source. A point
source is typically pollution that comes from one single location and is easier to
identify, such as from a pipe, municipal WWTP discharge, a factory, or a ditch. A non
point source is categorized as pollution that has come from multiple sites over very
large areas and are quite difficult to trace back and identify accurately. Some examples
would be oil from the many streets of a city, different pesticides and fertilizer runoff
from certain farms, some forest runoff, etc. There are three varied types of surface water
pollution. One type is biological pollution which comes from disease causing organisms
like bacteria. Another is chemical pollution which is either natural like nutrient pollution
or artificial such as from fertilizers, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals. There is also
physical pollution that can be from sources like solid waste, thermal, sediments, etc.

Biological pollution consists of infections stemming from two sources. The first is a
direct source such as from the microbes in the water like typhoid, cholera, etc. that when
drunken directly are known to cause symptoms like hepatitis and dysentery. The other is
from an indirect source like water breeding carriers, like the infamous mosquito, that
spread diseases such as yellow fever, the West Nile virus, malaria, etc.

Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today
Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma conveys
an iPhone and my dad a man who once swore he d never convey a telephone with him
anyplace slaps a Samsung Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case on his hip each morning.
It wasn t generally so. I was the main individual at my secondary school educators and
organization included with a cell phone. To start with, I had the Moto Q, then the
BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330. Furthermore, that is the place my
story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read: playing Brick Breaker and Asteroids)
on an incredible QWERTY console about a large portion of the palm s extent of my
hand. Trust it or not, cell phone history backtracks over 10 years before that. Things
were ... intriguing in those days. In the first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the
real definition, regardless of the source, is very ambiguous. Merriam Webster
compactly calls a cell phone a PDA that incorporates extra programming capacities (as
email or an Internet program). Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more
exact by saying a cell phone has the capacity perform a hefty portion of the elements of
a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen and a working framework
equipped for running universally useful applications. In any case, there is an almost
negligible difference between what is and isn t a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the
fact that the purported moronic or
