 Assigned by the Bureau of Lands (now LMB)

 Example:

Psd-I3-001602

Survey symbol - used to designate the various kinds of survey

Psd - Subdivision of lots by private land surveyors
Psu - Private surveys by private land surveyors
Rs – Resurveys
THE CLAIMANT

 may be:
1. an individual
2. a corporation or
3. any recognized organization
(religious, academic, etc.)
WHAT ARE INDICATED IN THE PLAN?

 To locate the site where the land is:

 Barrio/Barangay PLAN

RURBAN CODE:
BARANGAY OF:

 Date of survey and approval

 Authorized Signature: Geodetic Engineer
AREA, BEARINGS, SCALE, AND N-S
LINE
 AREA
- determined by Double Meridian Distance (DMD) method
- rounded off to the nearest whole number
- use the standard Lot Data Computation form (LMB Form No. GSD-
B-9A) to compute for the area

 BEARINGS
- may be grid, assumed, true or magnetic. True bearings, however,
are more usual for property surveys.
- if bearings are magnetic, the declination is indicated

 SCALE
- both the graphic scale and representative fraction are indicated

 NORTH-SOUTH LINE - drawn in standard form

LOT CORNERS AND BOUNDARY LINES

 LOT CORNERS
- small circles, 2 mm in diameter
- drawn in black ink
- numbers are inside the lot
- description of each corner as marked on the ground is
written preferably at the bottom left corner of the map. If the
space is crowded, it is written in any open space
e.g., All corners marked PS are cyl. conc. mons. 15 x 40 cm
LOT CORNERS AND BOUNDARY LINES

 BOUNDARY LINES
- boundary lines do not pass
2
through lot corners 1
- full black lines heavier than
those of adjoining properties

4 3
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

 Can be written along the

boundary lines and inside
the lot

 Or tabulated
-- when features are too
numerous and bearings and
distances, when written along
boundary lines, will make the
map crowded
-- usually placed in the upper
left-hand corner of the map. If
this space is crowded, the right-
hand corner may be used
REFERENCE POINT AND TIE LINE

REFERENCE POINT
- with known geographic coordinates, latitude f and
longitude l
- its Northing and Easting may be true or assumed
- may be a triangulation station or a Bureau of Lands Location
Monument (BLLM).
- not on the map simply because it is far from the area
surveyed

TIE LINE
- a line connecting the point of reference and corner
1 of the lot
REFERENCE POINT AND TIE LINE
There are two ways to write the description of the point of
reference and the bearing and distance of the tie line:

1. TABULATED TIE LINE: BLLM 11, BRGY. BIYONG TO CORNER 1

S 55016’ E 2512.19 m

2. GRADUATED
BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROPERTIES
 Boundaries between adjoining properties are indicated by
broken lines
 Owner's name and BL number are also indicated.
LETTERING AND NAMES

 Lettering is simple, uniform and mechanical

 Lot numbers, corner numbers, notes, titles, etc.
are drawn parallel to the horizontal axis of the
map.
 Names of rivers, roads, bridges and the like
follow the shape of the feature
 Sometimes, names of adjoining owners follow
the shape of the lot
COORDINATE AXES
 The central orthogonal axes
and the coordinates of the
center are drawn in red ink.
 Ncenter is drawn slightly to
the left of the vertical axis
Ncenter
near the lower edge of the
map
 Ecenter is drawn vertically

Ecenter
LOT PLAN DIMENSIONS
Lot plans are drawn on authorized BL forms having the
following dimensions
PLOTTING BY COORDINATE METHOD
• Coordinates of the Lot Corners
• Maximum Difference in Coordinates
• Appropriate Map Scale
• How to Center the Lot
• Plotting of Corners
COORDINATES OF THE LOT CORNERS
 Beginning from the reference point, add
the adjusted LAT and DEP to compute the
coordinates (Northing and Easting) of each
corner
Example
LINE DEP LAT
12 500 -25
23 225 -500
34 -475 -250
41 -250 775

COORDINATES OF THE LOT CORNERS
CORNER DEP LAT E N
1 20,000.00 20,000.00
+500 -25
2 20,500.00 19,975.00
+225 -500
3 20,725.00 19,475.00
-475 -250
4 20,250.00 19,225.00
-250 +775
1 20,000.00 20,000.00
MAXIMUM DIFFERENCE IN
COORDINATES
 Determine the ff:
 Nhighest = Northing of the extreme north corner
 Nlowest = Northing of the extreme south corner
 Ehighest = Easting of the extreme east corner
 Elowest = Easting of the extreme west corner

 Compute:
 N’ = Nhighest - Nlowest
 E’ = Ehighest - Elowest
 The Maximum Difference in Coordinates is:
 N’ , if N’>E’
 E’, if E’>N’
COORDINATES OF THE LOT CORNERS
CORNER N E  Nhighest =20,000
1 20,000.00 20,000.00  Nlowest = 19,225
2 19,975.00 20,500.00  Ehighest = 20,725
3 19,475.00 20,725.00  Elowest = 20,000
4 19,225.00 20,250.00  N’ = 775
 E’ = 725

 The Maximum Difference in Coordinates = 775

since N’>E’
MAP SCALE
 Determine the appropriate map scale based on the following table.
MAXIMUM DIFFERENCE IN COORDINATES
(in meters) SCALE

0-30 1: 100
30-60 1: 200
60-90 1: 300
90-120 1: 400
120-150 1: 500
150-180 1: 600
180-240 1: 800
240-300 1: 1000
300-600 1: 2000
600-900 1: 3000
900-1200 1: 4000
1200-1500 1: 5000
1500-1800 1: 6000
1800-2400 1: 8000
2400-3000 1: 10000

Note: This table was designed to conform to the size of a standard BL form
MAP SCALE

 The Maximum Difference in Coordinates is 775

 From the table, the appropriate scale is
1:3000
HOW TO CENTER THE LOT

 To center the lot, compute the following:

 Ncenter and Ecenter are the coordinates of the center of the

map, each rounded off to the nearest whole number
CENTERING THE LOT

 Ncenter = (20,000 + 19,225)/2 = 19,613

 Ecenter = (20,725 + 20,000)/2 = 20,363
PLOTTING OF CORNERS

 For each corner, compute for:

DNi = Ni – Ncenter
DEi = Ei – Ecenter

where:
Ni = Northing of corner i
Ei = Easting of corner i
DNi = distance of corner i along the vertical axis from the center
DEi = distance of corner i along the horizontal axis from the center
DNi = Ni – Ncenter
PLOTTING OF CORNERS DEi = Ei – Ecenter
