For the following examples, voltage is V with an assigned value of 14V, Current is I and is 2 amperes while
resistance is R of 7 ohms. Study the following computations.
A. For voltage V (voltage) = I (current) x R (resistance)
V=IxR
14 volts = 2 amperes x 7 ohms
2. A component needs a household voltage of 120 V to push a current of 5.5 A through its coil. What is
the resistance of the component?
3. 4. A circuit contains a 4.5-volt battery and a bulb with a resistance of 5 ohms. Calculate the current.
4. A light bulb has a resistance of 7 ohms and a maximum current of 10 A. How much voltage can be
applied before the bulb will be busted?
5. A 14 Volt car battery pushes charge through the headlight circuit resistance of 20 ohms. How much
current is passing through the circuit?

Learning Competency: Identify and explain the factors that affect potential and kinetic energy.
2. The potential energy of an apple is 6.0 joules. The apple is 3m high. What is the mass of the apple?
3. A box has a mass of 5.8kg. The box is lifted from the garage floor and placed on a shelf. If the box
gains 145J of Potential Energy (Ep), how high is the shelf?
4. Calculate the kinetic energy of a truck that has a mass of 2900kg and is moving at 55m/s.
5. A baby carriage is rolling down a hill at 18m/s. If the carriage has 90J of kinetic energy, what is the
mass of the carriage?
