Documents Required for IEC Application:

1. PAN Card: A copy of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card of the applicant entity.

2. Proof of Address: Any one of the following documents can be submitted as proof of address:

- Aadhar Card
- Passport
- Voter ID
- Driving License
- Bank Certificate
- Telephone Bill

3. Bank Certificate or Cancelled Cheque: A cancelled cheque or a bank certificate in the prescribed
format to establish the applicant's bank account.

Procedure to Apply for IEC:

1. Online Application:

- The IEC application is filed online on the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) website
(www.dgft.gov.in).

 Click on the “Apply for IEC “

 Toggle to the “ Register Tab”

 Fill the following details asked


1. Register User As
2. First Name and Last Name
3. Email ID
4. Mobile Number
5. Pin code
6. District
7. State
8. City
9. Enter the captcha Code
10. Tick the box “ by registering you are agreeing to our terms and conditions “

 After filling the details click on the send OTP button


 An OTP will be sent to both the mobile number and email ID
 Verify the same and Password will be sent to your email ID
 You have successfully created an account in DGFT
 Use the Email ID given as the User ID and Password sent to your email ID earlier to login to the
account
 After Login a Set up page will be seen click on the “ Apply IEC “ button
 After that the page seeking the details will appear
 Please furnish all required details accurately and completely, adhering to the prescribed
guidelines for seamless processing of your application.

1. Basic details
a. Nature of concern/Firm
b. Firm Name
c. Pan Number
d. Nam as per PAN Database
e. Date of Birth
f. Category of Exporter
g. Gstin Number
h. Whether the firm Is located in SEZ
i. Whethe the firm is located in Export Oriented Unit (equ) Scheme, Electronic Hardware
Tchnology Park (ehtp) Scheme, Software Technology (STP) Scheme or Bio Technology
Park (BTP) Scheme?
2. Details of Proprietor / Partner / Director
a. Firm Address – upload the proof of Address this can be the following;
1. Sales Deed, Rent Agreement, Lease Deed, Electricity Bill, Telephone Land Line Bill,
Mobile Postpaid bill, MOU
2. Other acceptable documents (for proprietorship only); Aadhar Card, Voter ID.
3. In the case the address proof is not in the name of the applicant then a noc is
needed

3. Bank Account Details – (Details of the current account needed )


1. Account Number
2. Account Holder Name
3. IFSC Code
4. Bank Name
5. Branch Name

Note : if there is no Current account then a saving account can be given as a Bank But
current account is mandatory which should be amended later on

Note : You Have to Submit supporting documents as proof of Bank Account. This document
can be a Pre-printed cancelled cheque or Bank Certificate as per the performa specified

Note : File should in pdf under 5MB

4. Other Details (Preferred sector of Operations)


1. Select the proper category like import / export which items are imported or
exported (as per gst)

5. Declaration
1. Tick in the box as acceptance of declaration/undertaking and fill the details below
2. Enter the place
3. Enter the date
Click on save and Next Button at each step to move forward and after entering all the details you
have to either sign using Aadhar e sign or DSC and there will be a payment of RS 500/-

After completing the steps an IEC code will be generated

7. IEC Generation:

- Once the application is processed and approved, the IEC will be generated and sent to the
applicant.

8. IEC Download:

- Download the IEC from the DGFT website. The IEC is a 10-digit alphanumeric code.

9. IEC Printing:

- Print the IEC for record-keeping and future reference.

10. Validity and Renewal:

- The IEC is typically valid for a lifetime, but it is advisable to check for any changes in regulations.
In case of any changes, renewal may be required.
