Ensure Webbing Slings is clearly marked with a unique Identification
Number, SWL, Color Code and have a valid
1 Certificate of Inspection from an approved TPIA
Ensure the Webbing sling is not color coded with some paint. (Plastic Ties
2 shall be used for color coding purpose)
Examine the sling along its entire length and check for cuts or tears and
3 burst stitching (especially around eyes).
Check complete sling for chemical or heat damage.

If it is a "Round" sling, examine outer sheath and ensure there has been no
5 ingress of foreign bodies into load bearing fibers.
If metal eyes are fitted, check that they are not worn, distorted or cracked.

Check for wear in the webbing where it is fitted to the metal eye.

8 Check there is no abrasion damage caused by being dragged from under a

load.

9 Ensure slings are not knotted.

10 Check for cuts, teat, burst stitching damage, localized damage.

11 Check for oil and chemical attack.
