Examine each leg along its entire length and check for 1 wear corrosion, abrasion, mechanical damage, broken wires Messure diameter to determine if there is any reduction 2 from original due to wear or stretch from overloading Examine ferruls and check for impact damage/tearing. It 3 should be free of cracks and other deformaties Check that the end of the eye loop does not terminate 4 inside the ferrule unless it is the spised design Examine each thimble for correct fitting, also check for 5 snagging damage caused by sling being dragged Check for elongation in the eyes which could indicate 6 overloading Examine wire rope around thimbles as it is often abraded 7 due to sling being dragged over rough surfaces If fitted, examine masterlink/quadruple assembly and 8 check for wear, corrosion and cracking
