DX HIGH WALL SPLIT UNITS

1. PURPOSE:

The purpose of this method statement is to define construction sequence in

relation to the installation, testing and commissioning of DX HI WALL SPLIT
Units. The aim is to set out the procedures, precautions to be observed during
unloading, lifting, shifting, storing and installation of DX HI WALL SPLIT Units.
All works will be carried out in accordance to site safety rules and regulations
as guided by HSE Management. This method statement shall be read in
conjunction with project specifications, relevant codes for installation & testing.

2. SCOPE:

This method statement defines the construction methodology for the installation
of HVAC DX HI WALL SPLIT Units. The work will be coordinated with other
services during the execution of work in line with the specifications, approved
TDS, approved MAS, approved shop drawings safety and quality requirements.

5. RESPONSIBILITY:

Manager:

 He shall be responsible for all the contractual requirements pertaining to

this activity and method statement.
 Be the focal point for all communication and correspondence.
 Ensures effective systems to monitor and control the works are
implemented, particularly in respect of safety, quality of the works.
 Directing construction activities through engineers & associates.
 Review overall progress of activities pertaining to this method statement
and communication with contractor for coordination of civil works and
other services etc.
 Take active participation in all QA/QC matters.
 Coordinate with various agencies to reduce interface problems.

Site Engineer:

 Conducting toolbox talks to explain the work procedure and maintain

safety guidelines.
 Ensure that latest shop drawings are being used at site.
 Controlling the fitters/ fabricators, welders, helpers and their performance,
supervision of installations.
 Organizing all necessary materials, tools, equipment to the work at site
and assigning workman crew prior to commencement of work.
 Confirming materials used at site are as per approved material submittal.
 Preparation for Stage Inspection and notification to Project Engineer for
inspections.

Quality Personnel:

 QA/QC personnel shall be overall responsible for QA/QC activities.

 Ensuring the quality of Materials delivered at site as per specification and
approved material submittals by conducting stage wise inspection at
factory and site.
 Facilitating Client / Third party Inspections as per approved Inspection
Test Plan.
 He shall be responsible for the execution of correct installation techniques
and control with respect to this method statement and reference
documents.
 Witnessing all Checks / tests.
 Maintaining records of calibration, inspection and testing equipment.
 Documentation of test records and stage inspection.
 Reporting and monitoring of non-conformance status.

Safety Engineer:

 Shall facilitate and maintain a good safe working practice at site.

 Shall facilitate the risk analysis and require preventive measure.
 Check PPE for all workers and staff during execution.
 Take prior precaution to avoid any accidents.
 Every day before starting any activity conducting toolbox talk for all labours.
 Shall be responsible for ensuring that all involved personnel have attended
company HSE induction and follow HSE regulations, safe work practices, safe
working environment.
 Shall responsible to conduct work site inspection to ensure that all the activities
are performing as per the standard safety procedures.

 Shall lead HSE communication with workforce to encourage reporting of

incidents, hazard identification, risk management and emergency
preparedness.

6. METHODOLOGY

Material Receipt

 The materials received at stores / site shall be checked for manufacture details,
as per delivery note and as per approved material submittal to ensure delivery
is correct.
 Verification of quantity as per delivery notes/Identification label, country of
origin, test certificates, shall be done properly.
 The installer will receive a set of installation drawings from the factory with tag
numbers and hoisting shall be executed as per manufacturer
recommendations.
 Sub-Contractor will be responsible for arrangement of unloading the DX HI
WALL SPLIT Indoor/Outdoor at store or dedicated place by client.
 Responsibility for this lies with sub-contractor.

Material Handling (Material and Equipment preservation).

 Use hand gloves for shifting / unloading / loading / handling etc.

 Unload DX HI WALL SPLIT Units with Lift for Outdoor and Hand for indoor.
Keep on wooden block in designated area. Ensure enough manpower available
at site.
 Ensure HSE permit shall be taken before starting the DX HI WALL SPLIT unit
lifting.
 Do not drop or drag the Material.
 Always be careful to avoid damage while handling.

Material Storage (Material Storage and Management Method)

 DX HI WALL SPLIT units shall be unloaded in designated area. DX HI WALL

SPLIT units Indoor/Outdoor of different sizes shall be marked & stacked on
wooden supports separately for clarity in identification, qualification, inspection
and ease of removal without damage.
 DX HI WALL SPLIT unit should be kept at dry, covered area so that they are
prevented from getting to be corroded.
 Material stacking shall be by capacity wise prior to easy handling and usage.
 DX HI WALL SPLIT unit storage will be in ambient atmospheric condition
covered with Tarpaulin cover from all sides so there is no ingress of water,
foreign material. Ensure Tarpaulin sheets are to be properly tied and secured
against being dislodged by wind.
 All covered DX HI WALL SPLIT units should be marked for easier identification.

General Work Methodology

Preparatory Arrangements (Prior Preparations before Commencement of

works)

 Check for latest GFC/Shop drawings.

 Review the risk assessment with the current site conditions.

 Check for approachability to work area.

 Check the size and quantity of the received DX HI WALL SPLIT unit as per the
requirement.

 Check material test report or certification in compliance with approved material

specification.

 Check all the units having pre-filter, fan section and Coil section.

 Check the dimensions of materials to ensure that they are in compliance with
requirement on DX HI WALL SPLIT unit.

 Check whether the area is clear / civil & HSE clearance available for
installation.

 Check for any physical damage to DX HI WALL SPLIT unit.

 Ensure easy access and enough clearance is provided for future operation and
other services

Installation of DX HI WALL SPLIT unit (Sequence of work with Activity)

DX HI WALL SPLIT unit Installation

 Install the indoor and outdoor units to its designated location by lifting it slowly
using suitable lifting equipment’s.
 All pipe supports shall be done as per approved shop drawing
 All pipe open ends shall be plugged properly.

 Preparing DX HI WALL SPLIT unit supports are as per the approved

GFC/Shop drawings and recommended OEM installation drawings.

 Anti-vibration ribbed pads of correct thickness as per approved drawings are

placed below the Outdoor units.

 All safety regulations must be observed at the installation site.

 It should be ensured that adequate access is available for maintenance of the

unit.

 Determine the position of DX HI WALL SPLIT unit and mark the location of
supports as preapproved shop drawings.

 Prepare and fix the DX HI WALL SPLIT unit supports as per approved
construction drawing and specifications.

 Install the DX HI WALL SPLIT unit by lifting it slowly to the required level.

 Air inlet, outlet, fresh air connection and copper pipe connection orientation are
as per approved drawing.

 Electrical Connection Should be checked before testing.

 Install the thermostat control unit as per approved drawing.

 Clean the DX HI WALL SPLIT unit and surrounding areas and remove all
excess materials.

 Install piping adjacent to the machine to allow service and maintenance.

 Ensure that adequate space for maintenance of Indoor and Outdoor Units is
available.

 Nitrogen cylinder with high pressure pneumatic hose, testing manifold, pressure
regulating valve, pressure gauges and other accessories will be connected to
the refrigeration piping at the lower end.

 Nitrogen cylinder will be kept vertical and tied during the usage.

 The dial gauges will be constantly monitored to ensure overall pressure is

attained and held.

 Connect condensate drain to indirect waste Pipe. Install condensate trap of

adequate depth to seal against the pressure of fan.

 Connect wiring as per approved shop drawing.

7. Testing & Commissioning

 An inspection request for the DX HI WALL SPLIT unit installation shall be
submitted at least 1-2 days prior to the client or as agreed.
 Service space around the unit as per manufacturer’s requirement..
 Check filters are provided as per specification and approved MAS.
 Verify the presence of identification labels, safety and warning signs at their
position as per approved material.

 Noise level should not be more than 37 dB at medium speed at 1.5m distance
as per project specification and subjected to MAS approval.

Commissioning-
 The joints for testing shall be selected co jointly by GGIAL & Mega wide
Engineer.
 Motorized/Manual hydraulic pump having valid manufacturer’s test certificate
shall be used for hydrostatic pressure test.
 DX HI WALL SPLIT unit may be tested as a whole or in sections to facilitate
progress of work.
 All the required accessories are installed as per the approved GFC/Shop
drawings.
 Check physically whether all joints are finished properly.
 The dead ends and outlets are then plugged.
 Ensure that the components in the circuit can withstand the testing pressure i.e.
DX HI WALL SPLIT unit, fittings, etc.
 Filter should be installed after the Test run of equipment.

8. Inspection and testing

 The in process works shall be monitored for quality of workmanship and
installation against approved shop drawings by contractor’s QA/QC engineer
 Upon the arrival of units at site it shall be inspected by contractors QA/QC
engineer for visual and dimensional checks
 All the works shall be inspected for the conformance towards project
specifications
 The inspection formats shall be used in accordance with the requirements of
main contractors Unique documentation procedures
 After contractors QA/QC inspection the inspection request shall be officially
submitted to engineer for inspection and approval.

RECORDS:

 All inspection formats and other records shall be as per project approved forms.

 The inspection formats shall be used in accordance with the requirements of

client documentation procedures.

9. Health and Safety Control Measures

 All activities will be executed in accordance with contractors HSE Plan and HSE
guidelines.
 Safety risk assessment shall be performed for every job or task, which has the
potential for harm.
 Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available with all the workers.
 All required equipment and tools should be checked before start of work for
suitability and integrity.
 All safety Guidelines shall be adhered as per approved HSE Plan.
 Necessary permit to work to be obtained as per the site requirement.

10. HOUSE-KEEPING:

 Effective housekeeping can eliminate some work place hazards and helps to
get job done safely and properly.

 The work area shall be maintained neat and tidy as reasonably practical all the
times
