SIMULATIONS
30 November 2021 (Tuesday)

T h i s w e b i n a r was held on 3 0 N o v e m b e r 2021 for mechanical

engineering students. The talk took place via an onlineplatform on
zoom from 2 PM to 5 PM.

The main purpose of the “Webinar: Accelerating academic towards

simulations” is to provides knowledge on aerodynamic
optimization, flow patterns, transfer heat, wave loading on
offshore structures, spray dryers, beds fluidized using Ansys
CFD/Fluent.

This program was very interesting the information from the

speaker very useful the student especially for 4th year studentwho
will graduated soon. The knowledge about Ansys in mechanical,
Ansys in Fluent and Ansys electromagnetics can be used for their
future career because nowadays, a high technologyrequired soft
skills which one of them is Ansys.

The participants have learned a lot from the speakers.

This talk contributes knowledge about work ethic and economic
growth for the student especially 4th year student. they become
much more confident and have a much clearer vision of how to
continue their career path after graduating.

last but not least, the program is a huge success since the
response during the Q&A session is really lively, this proves that
the participant actively listened and actually find the knowledge
that our respected guest speaker shared really valuable.
Virtual Internship
Talk 2021
| 11TH December 2021, Saturday

A Virtual Internship Talk with the theme of “A Great Step

Begins with Internship” was held on 11th December of

2021 using online platform which is Webex. The
objective of this event is to expose the third-year
students of engineering about Industrial Training which
includes preparation, do’s and do not and also the job
scopes during internship period. It is also exposed the
students with soft skills that the students must develop
in themselves in order to get placement in any company
for industrial training.

The sharing session is done by the guest speaker, Mr.

Muhammad Fadzlih Baharudin who undergo a
internship at Villaco Sdn Bhd and Mr. Arif Amsyar Bin
Haron. The event also attended by more than 60
students of third-year students of all engineering
discipline in University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and few
engineering students from other institutional. The
programme director, Clarance Jimru thanked the guest
speakers and all the participants for their willingness to
take part in the Internship Talk that held on Saturday.
He also thanked the guest speaker for the brilliant and
beneficial sharing and tips throughout the event.

Both guest speaker, wished all the best for the

participants on their upcoming internship and advised
the participants to stay safe and take a good care of
themselves especially during this pandemic situation.
Most of the participants were happy and grateful to be
given an opportunity to gain knowledge and useful tips
from the experienced engineer.

SCHOOL PROGRAM
22 MAY 2022 (TUESDAY)

“Mecha Finishing School Program” was held on 22 May 2022 for the
4th year of mechanical engineering students. The talk took place
via an online platform on google meet from 2 PM to 3 PM.

The main purpose of the “Mecha Finishing School Program” is to

provide clarity for the 4th year mechanical engineering student
about the path and their opportunity after graduating in the
mechanical engineering field, the program also gives motivation to
the student and provides an advantage for them before entering
the working stage.

This program was very interesting and informative due to the

presence of Mr. Ferdy Erlwin Bin Marizal as the guest speaker of
our program. Mr. Ferdy prepared a slide about his engineering
experience in the industry. Following that, he discussed the career
path for the mechanical engineering course, highlighting job
opportunities. He explained the typical project cycle and project
organizations. Furthermore, he shared his experience in the
Railway Industry, the value he has learned, and advice in working
life especially for the 4th year student that will become a fresh
graduate soon.

The participants have learned a lot from Mr. Ferdy.

This talk contributes knowledge about work ethic and economic

MECHA NIGHT 2021
| 8TH July 2022, Friday |

Mecha Night is one of the activity that let all the

junior and senior of mechanical engineering student
to know each other. But, since pandemic hit UMS in
2019, the Mecha Night was postponed until 2021.
Finally, in 2022, we are able to celebrate Mecha Night
with the junior, senior and also lecturers.

Mecha Night 2020 with the theme “Night of The Star”

was held on 8 July 2022 (Saturday) at The Palace
Hotel Kinabalu. This activity was opened to all
mechanical engineering student and lecturers who
want to join. This activity was started at 7.30am and
end at 10.30am.

A total of 86 people have participated in this program

including students and lecturers. Dr. Chua Bih Lii and
Dr. Melvin Fong Wai Loong delivered a speech of
appreciation and wished good luck to all the students,
especially the seniors who will be graduating soon.
Former president, Nurapiqah Binti Ariffin also wished
good luck to all the juniors who are still pursuing their
dreams of becoming mechanical engineers in the
future.

ROUTE TO PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER TALK

“Route to Professional Engineer Talk” was held on 6 October

2022 for all engineering students. The talk took place via online
platform which is through google meet.

The main purpose of the “Route to Professional Engineer Talk”

is to provide all engineering students with information about
the path they can take after finishing their studies, especially
4th – year students from the Engineering Faculty.

Ir. Ts. Mohd Kamal Haziq bin Kamaruzaman, the guest speaker,
prepared a slide about his engineering experience in the
industry. Following that, he discussed the career path for ach
engineering course, highlighting a few job opportunities for
each engineering course. He also discusses the typical project
life cycle and project organizations. Then, he discusses the path
to become a professional engineer, sharing his experience,
value, and benefits. He also gave specific instruction on how to
apply for it.

The participants of this talk have learned how to maximize

their potential for a job opportunity career that is in high
demanding the working world. They would indeed learn about
the best way for them to pursue their dream career after
graduation. They participant show great interest since they ask
a lot about the career path during this talk. Closing the end of
the talk, Ir. Ts. Mohd Kamal Haziq bin Kamaruzaman give
advice to all the participant especially for those who is
interested in pursuing professional Engineer career.

Even though there were minor technical issues during this

programme, it is considered a huge success because the
participants learned a lot from Ir . Ts. Mohd Kamal Haziq bin
Kamaruzaman.
