Once upon a time, in the middle of the night, Ibrahim dreamed that Allah
commanded him to slaughter ismail.
“O my son! Wallahi, I really dream that I slaughter you. Then think about how you
think!”, Ibraham said.
Ibraham knew that Allah would only ask him to do such a thing if he had good
reason. Even though Ibraham trully loved his son. Ibraham was prepared to do difficult
command from Allah.
“O my father! Do what is commanded God to you. God willing you'll find me.” Ismail said.
Before Slaughter, Ismail delivered some of his last wishes. First, Ismail asked to be
tied with a rope to bind them so you don't wriggle. Secondly, the knife should be
sharpened to prevent the pain. And he also asked that the clothes he was wearing given to
his beloved mother, Siti Hajar as a keepsake.
Ibrahim laid the son and starts began to get his knife, but the sharp knife was not
able to cut Ismael skin. Ibraham was afraid. He thought he had disobeyed but then he
heard a voice telling him not to worry. Allah looks after his followers. Ibrahim And
Ismail had passed a difficult test.
Each year during the month of Dzulhijjah, many Muslims from all over the world,
travel to Makkah. They visit places where Ibraham and Ismail lived and preached. They
give a sacrifice just as Allah commanded Ibraham to do.
The story of ibrahim and Ismail are now remembered as the Festival of Eid Adha or
The Qurban Feast.
Ibrahim tahu bahwa Allah hanya akan memintanya melakukan hal seperti itu jika
dia mempunyai alasan yang kuat. Padahal Ibrahim sangat menyayangi putranya. Ibrahim
siap melaksanakan perintah sulit dari Allah.
“Wahai ayahku! Lakukan apa yang diperintahkan Tuhan kepadamu. Insya Allah kamu
akan menemukanku.” kata Ismail.
Setiap tahunnya selama bulan Dzulhijjah, banyak umat Islam dari seluruh dunia
yang melakukan perjalanan ke Makkah. Mereka mengunjungi tempat-tempat di mana
Ibrahim dan Ismail tinggal dan berdakwah. Mereka berkurban sebagaimana diperintahkan
Allah kepada Ibrahim.
Kisah ibrahim dan Ismail kini dikenang sebagai Hari Raya Idul Adha atau Hari Raya
Qurban.
Pesan moral:
Kita harus menaati perintah Allah dengan melakukan apa yang kita tahu benar, menaati
orang tua dan selalu berkata jujur.
