The Role of Education in National Development

Education Reciprocates National Development

We are facing a daily task of overcoming what comes within the day. Being able to cope
with it is not an inborn capacity among us, but we may all agree that it depends on how we are
trained to deal with these differing situations. Children will not develop a responsive attitude
unless through the help of their parents or an adult capable of guiding them. The child
upbringing will determine how he or she will be able to overcome life’s challenges. Training
involves educating children while acquiring awareness and preparedness as they explore the
world. Developing the needed life skills will become their lifetime shield and armor to conquer
all life’s battles. As the bible reminds us that as we train children the way they should live, it will
be their lifelong guide (Proverbs 22:6).

This establishes the relationship between training and education. Through constant
training, children continue to acquire knowledge leading to development of skills, motivation
for learning, competence, and for better individuals which is the main goal of education.

Education prepares children for a wider scale. At first, rearing them helps them to be
receptive to their personal needs and on later part of their lives be able to take part in the
welfare of others. Child training starts at home and is augmented by formal education. At
school, conceptual awareness is understood through experiences that enable children to use
what they have learned. For example, as they were taught on water and energy saving, they
will develop the culture of conservation of natural resources and be able to configure resource-
saving technologies. Children will now be one of the country’s human capitals. The key
economic role of education is to train the workers needed for the dominant system of
production and the level of technology that society demands. Correspondence to the
requirement for a specific job contributes largely to the attainment of economic standards.

Students also develop higher order thinking skills when they work towards the creation
and implementation of complex projects at school. Health-related tasks may range from
preparing and executing a physical game to be performed at recess, to learning medical skills
while students are ill — helping to determine, for example, whether a cold has turned into an
antibiotic respiratory infection.

Projects for entrepreneurship include finding and leveraging consumer opportunities by

generating tangible value through business concepts such as school gardens or community
recycling. Students learn and practice skills and behaviors in the workplace such as teamwork,
communication, cooperation and planning — opportunities that are seldom accessible outside
their communities.
The Role of Education in National Development

Education offers a wide range of reforms from basic life skills to more complex arrays of
the country’s economic welfare. It enables individuals to act humane and think professionally. It
is not an overnight process that a government has already developed highly qualified
individuals. It is the educational system that serves as determinants of economic progress.
With its resources, having a pool of skillful and high quality specialists is what makes complete
factors for a national development.
