Before we proceed , please pick up the pieces

of dirt and arrangement your chair properly.

Please be seated

may I just remind everyone while the Yes Ma’am

discussion is ongoing. Please switch on your
cameras as possible, mute your microphones
unless you are told so. You can use also the
different reaction buttons in our Zoom meeting,
use the raising hand buttons if you want to
answer. Is that clear to everyone?

May I see a thumbs sign reaction If it is clear

to everyone?
Checking the Attendance
“Joemel, are there absentees for today?” None Ma’am

“Wow! I am happy that everyone is present.”

“ Let’s give clap our hands since everyone is
here today.”

“ Let’s give ourselves a heart reaction button.”

Presenting examples/ instances of the new

lesson
Before we proceed to our formal discussion, ( Audio Vidual Presentation)
let’s have first watch this video. https://youtu.be/XlURkIXeC8E
Discussing new concepts
“ First, let’s define measures of central
tendency describes a set of data by locating
the middle or center of the set. It’s a summary
measure of attempts to described a whole set
of data with a single value that represents the
middle of its distribution.”

“ There are three main measures of central

tendency, MEAN,MEDIAN, AND MODE, each of
these measures describes a different indication
of the typical or central value in the
distribution.”

‘Again class what is the three main measures of

central tendency?” (Everyone: “Mean, Median and Mode)

“Very Good”

“ When you hear the word Mean(arithmetic

mean). What comes to your mind?”

“Yes, Jc?” “Ma’am, when we say mean it is the sum of a

collection of numbers”

“ Very Good, Jc”

“ When we say mean or arithmetic mean, It is

the sum of the value of each observation in a
data set, divided by the number of
obervations.”

“Example, consider this data set showing the

age of 12 students in Grade 7 Mozart.”

got in their last examination.”

“40,33,48,50,40,40,47,33,38”

“The mean is calculated by adding all the

values”

=255

=255/12
= 21.25

“ Our Mean is 21.25 ”

Continuation of the discussion

“What will we do next Jharmine?” Ma’am, dividing by the number of
observations (12) which is equals to 21.25

“Very good! That’s right Jharmine, we will

dividing the number of observations by 12. 255
divide it by 12 is equals to 21.25”

“The second, central tendency is median”

“Kindly please read, Ryan?”

“Ma’am median is the middle value in the

distribution Median is the middle value in the
distribution when the values are arranged in
ascending or descending order”

“Thank you Ryan, from the word itself Med-

middle. So, Median is the middle value in the
distribution when the values are arranged in
ascending or descending order.
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR.S ANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

and class always remember median divides the

distribution in half, If there are 50% of
observations on either side of the median
value.”

“Example, looking at the age of students in

Grade 7 Mozart which has 12 observations, the
median is the middle value.
First, list it from ascending-descending order”

“Yes, Francine can you arrange the age of your

classmate from ascending-descending order?” “19,20,21,21,21,21,21,21,22,22,23,23”

“Very Good, Francine”

“We have
19,20,21,21,21,21,21,21,22,22,23,23, so we
have two middle values are 21 and 21”

“19,20,21,21,21,21,21,21,22,22,23,23”

“Let’s add the two 21+ 21 = 42,42 divide it by

2, therefore the median is 31.5.

“Example 2, highest score that 12 students in

Grade 7 Mozart got in their last examination.
List it from ascending to descending order.”

“ We have
28,28,29,30,33,35,45,46,47,47,48,50”

“Johndell, since we arrange it from descending “Ma’am get the middle value by adding the
to ascending order what we do next?” two middle values 35 and 45 is 80 and divide
it by 2 is 57.5”
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR.S ANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

“Excellent! Johndell”

“ 35+45 = 80 , 80/2= 57.5

Therefore, median is 57.5”

“Kindly click the heart button ,if it is clear to

everyone:?”

“What is our third central tendency?”

“Yes, Rizza?” “ Ma’am mode”

“Very Good, Rizza”

“When we say mode is the most commonly

occurring value in a distribution.”

“ Looking at the age of 12 students again

19,20,21,21,21,21,21,21,22,22,23,23”

“What is our mode Jeia?” "Ma’am 21"

“Are you agree with the answer of Jeia, Marya " Yes Ma’am since 21 is occuring value in the
Jean?” set "

“Excellent! Marya jean, It seems that you easily

understand our discussion.

“Let’s have our example 2, highest score that

12 students in Grade 7 Mozart got in their last
examination.
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR.S ANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

28,28,29,30,33,35,45,46,47,47,48,50”

“What is our mode?”

“Yes, Charles” “ Ma’am 47”

“Very Good! Charles”

“28,28,29,30,33,35,45,46,47,47,48,50
Our mode 47.”

“It seems all of of you understand the

discussion for today with that let’s try some
exercises.”

“ Get your paper and ballpen” (Students get their paper and ballpen)

Developing Mastery
“At this point, I’ll be giving you 2 questions.
After 5minutes, we will check your answer.”

“ Are you ready class? May I see a heart

reaction?

“So here are your 2 questions.

Find the mean, median and mode of the
following set of numbers.”
1. The retirement age of 10 Army’s in
this year.
54,62,60,55,55,58,54,57,60,54

2. The weight of the 12 students in

Grade 7- Da Vinci

“Your time starts now”

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR.S ANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

“Time is up!”
“Let’s check your answer, number 1 for the
mean?” “Ma’am the mean is 56.7”

“Yes,Rose Ann?”
“ Ma’am by adding all the values in
the set
“How do you get 56.7?” 54+60+60+55+55+58+54+57+60+54=567
and divide it by 10= 56.7”

“Excellent, Rose Ann”

“Everyone has the same answer to Rose

Ann? If it is yes click the check reaction”

“Very good,class!”

(some of the students is raising their hands)

“how about our median in number 1?”

“ The first thing I do here Ma’am is rearrange the

“Yes, Dino?” values in the set from ascending to descending
52,54,54,55,55,55,56,57,58,60,60,62
And next I added the 55 and 56 is 111 and divided
by 2 is 55.5 so the median is 55.5”

“Fabuluos, Dino”

“In our mode, since the occurring number is

55 our mode is 55.”

“Is everyone got the answer 55?”

(Everyone response check reaction)
“If it is yes, click the check reaction, if it is
not click the wrong reaction”

“Let’s come now in number 2”

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR.S ANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA
“ The weight of the 12 students in Grade 7- Da
“Yes, John Carl?” Vinci is 46,32,45,50,62,46,48,48,30,52,65,48 . I add
all the values in the set
46+32+45+50+62+46+48+48+30+52+65+48
Is 572 divide it by 12 is 47.6 Therefore, the mean is
47.6”

“ Excellent! John Carl. Is everyone got the

same answer? May I see a heart reaction
button”

“Very Good! It seems everyone will get a

perfect score”

“In our Median for number 2?”

“Yes, Nessa?” “Ma’am, what I did first is to arrange the values of

set ascending-descending order
30,32,45,46,46,46,48,49,50,52,62,65 next I added
46 and 48 is 94 and divide it by 2 is 47. Therefore,
our median is 47.
“ Fabulous! Nessa”
“Is everyone got the same answer? Click (Everyone send their check button)
the check button if yes”

“Last but not the least, mode”

“Yes, Jeia” “Ma’am the mode is 46 ,

30,32,45,46,46,46,48,49,50,52,62,65 since it is the
occurring number in the set”

“Very Good! Jeia”

Finding practical applications of concepts
and skills in daily living
“ As you observe, the measure of central
tendency can use or apply in real life
scenario’s. It condenses the data to
represent average and value that this
concept is essential in math and in daily
living.”

median and mode.)”

“Since we’re experiencing a Pandemic , we

can apply measure of tendency by getting
the age of senior citizen that is positive in
Corona Virus by this we can apply the
mean,median and mode.”

Concluding Activities
Making generalizations and abstractions
“ How do we measures the central tendency “First is the mean add all the values in the set and
mean, median, and mode?” divided it by if how may values set has.”

 19,15,18,12,20,12 = 96 / 6=16 mean

“ Second median, arrange all the values in set from

ascending to descending order.”

 12,12,15,18,19,20
“Add the two middle values in a set 15+15=30/2
16.5 is the median

“Third is mode, the most commonly occurring value

in a set.”

 12,12,15,18,19,20
12 is the mode
