RM Bridge General
Demo Example Two-span Composite Bridge Steel/Concrete 1

1 General
2-Span-Composite Bridge according to Petersen: Stahlbau, Vieweg Verlag (1988)

Figure 1: Structure in RM.

This example demonstrates:
 the simple calculation of a steel and concrete composite beam
 the good agreement with verified results
The structured system and the preparation for RM is shown in figure 1. The bridge is
built using continuos shoring. Therefore there are no additional internal forces. The two
loading cases (self weight and vertical settlement of the support) are creep active per-
manent loads.

 Elements 301 to 320: for the COMPOSITE cross section
E-Modulus:
Steel Beam: E=2,1E+08 kN/m²
Concrete Plate (B300): E=3E+7 kN/m²

4 Loadings
 Self Weight: 70 kN/m (Load Case 101)
 Vertical settlement of the central support: 25 cm (Load Case 201)
 Creep: Creep Coefficient PHI = 1.875 (Load Case 601)
 Shrinkage: Shrinkage Coefficient EPS = 20.15-5 (Load Case 601)
