常見的10個英文疊字
1. Yada yada
(phr.) 之類的，以下省略
• 用來代稱「一些不重要的廢話」，也可以說「以下省略一千字」
➡ You can take a look at this contract. Yada yada yada, and please sign here.
➡ 你可以看看這個合約，省略一千字，然後在這簽名。
• 正式版本：So on and so forth 之類的 (phr.)

2. Win-win
(n.) 雙贏
• Win-win situation 雙贏局面
➡ Working from home is a win-win situation for both the employer and the employee.
➡ 遠端工作對於雇主跟雇員是雙贏局面。
• 直接當成名詞使用
➡ This solution is a win-win for all of us.
➡ 這個解決方式對大家來說是雙贏。

3. Chit-chat
(n.) 不重要的聊天
• 和 Small talk 一樣意思，瞎聊
➡ “What were you talking about?” 你們在聊什麼啊
➡ “Nothing much. It was just chit-chat.” 沒什麼啊，就瞎聊
• 想停止尬聊，切入主題時可以說：“Enough with the chit-chat. Let’s start class.”

(n.) 夾腳拖
• 狀聲詞，像是穿夾腳拖走路時發出的聲音

➡ 不！我的夾腳拖不見了！

5. Wishy-washy
(adj.) 平淡無味、說話空洞
• washy表示把東西沖淡了，變得平淡無味
➡ The wine tasted a bit wishy-washy
➡ 那個紅酒喝起來沒什麼味道
• 指一個人無法拿定主意，優柔寡斷、閃若其詞，沒有魄力
➡ The candidate was wishy-washy on the same-sex marriage issue.
➡ 候選人對於同性婚姻的議題模糊其詞。

(n.) 大雜燴
• 食物上的大雜燴
• 把很多元素混在一起，變成一鍋抽象的大雜燴

7. Zig-zag
(n.) 鋸齒狀的曲折
(v.) 之字型移動

(n.) 小裝飾物、小東西
• 常指沒有太大用處的小東西或擺飾，小公仔等等。
➡ Kitchen knick-knacks 廚房小物：削皮刀、瀝水器、收納盒等等

9. Nitty-gritty
(n.) 事情的核心
• 事情的核心與主軸、實際面。
• Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. 我們來講重點吧
➡ Enough with the chit-chat. Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Let’s get down to the

10. Lovey-dovey
(adj.) 恩愛、放閃
• 形容情侶在大庭廣眾之下卿卿我我，過度熱情地放閃。
• A lovey-dovey couple 一對放閃的情侶
