Have a good day, teacher!

An: I’m Trường An, and this’s my partner,

Vy: My name is Vy
Now, we’re employees in a subsidiary of Orange Juice Company in Vietnam.

Đề 5: We are discussing about the topic

Vy: Hey An, do you think “ people in Vietnam generally think positively of young
people in management positions? Why / Why not? ”

An: In my opinion, most people in Vietnam do not think highly of young people in
management positions. They believe that young people lack experience and are not
competent enough to handle the responsibilities that come with being a manager. From
my experience, I don't think they are generally well-respected. Older generations in
Vietnam tend to value age and experience over youth and innovation.

Vy: I disagree. I think that more and more people in Vietnam are recognizing the
potential of young people in management positions. They are seeing that young people
can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table, and they are more willing to give them
a chance to prove themselves. With the rise of startups and entrepreneurship in Vietnam,
young people are proving themselves capable of leading successful businesses.

An: But don't you think that there is still a strong preference for older, more experienced
managers in Vietnam? The traditional mindset of valuing age and experience is deeply
ingrained in Vietnamese culture. I believe that many people still view young managers as
being too inexperienced and therefore not capable of making important decisions

Vy: I can see where you're coming from, but I think that this perception is slowly
changing. With more young people entering the workforce and taking on management
positions, there is a growing acceptance of their abilities and potential. Plus, technology
is changing so rapidly that younger managers may have an advantage in understanding
and adapting to new tools and processes.

An: I agree that technology is a key factor in this discussion. Younger people are often
more tech-savvy than their older counterparts, and this can be a valuable asset in some
industries. However, I still believe that experience is crucial when it comes to managing
people and making important decisions.

Vy: I think it's important to acknowledge that both age and youth can bring value to
management positions. Young people may bring fresh perspectives and new ideas, while
older generations can provide wisdom and experience.
An: Definitely. It's all about finding a balance and recognizing the strengths that each
individual can bring to the table. Ultimately, the success of a company or organization
should be based on merit, not age or gender.

Đề 6: We are discussing about the topic

Vy: Do you think that the key to good marketing is being able to speak directly to
consumers?

An: I strongly believe that the key to good marketing is being able to speak directly to
consumers. When you can communicate with your audience in a way that resonates with
them, you can effectively influence their decisions and ultimately drive success for your
brand.

Vy: I disagree. While it's important to understand your target audience and develop a
message that speaks to them, there are many other factors that contribute to successful
marketing campaigns. For example, effective branding, strategic positioning, and a strong
value proposition are all critical components of a successful marketing strategy.

An: I understand your point, but I would argue that all of those factors still rely on being
able to connect with consumers on a personal level. Your branding, positioning, and
value proposition all need to be rooted in an understanding of your audience's wants and
needs in order to be effective.

Vy: That's a fair point, but I still think there are other factors at play. For example, your
marketing channels and tactics can have a big impact on your success. If you're not using
the right channels to reach your audience, or if your tactics aren't resonating with them,
then even the best message won't be effective.

An: I agree that channels and tactics are important, but I still believe that the core of
successful marketing is being able to directly connect with your audience. If you can
speak their language and understand their pain points, you'll be able to create messaging
that truly resonates and drives results

Vy: I see your point, but what if a company's target audience is difficult to reach or
communicate with directly?

An: In that case, marketers can still gather information through social media, online
reviews, and other indirect forms of communication. However, direct communication
with consumers is still the most effective way to establish a connection and build a loyal
customer base.
Vy : I agree that direct communication with consumers is important, but isn't it also
necessary to have a solid understanding of the product or service being marketed in order
to create a successful marketing campaign?

An: Absolutely. A thorough understanding of the product, the target audience, and the
market is essential for effective marketing.

7. Disagreement is a form of conflict. In what ways can it make meetings and

discussions more effective?

V: Good morning, An. How are you today?

A: Good morning, Vy. I'm doing well, thank you. How about you?

V: I’m good but recently I have some problem with my group to discuss about The final
semester's project. There are many people who disagree with each other. So I was
thinking about the topic of disagreement as a form of conflict. What are your thoughts
about that?

A: Well, I think that disagreement can actually be a good thing. In fact, disagreements
can make meetings and discussions more effective by promoting more critical thinking,
creativity, and better decision making. Disagreement can challenge individuals to think
more critically about their own opinions and encourage them to consider alternative
viewpoints.

V: Yes, and it encourages people to actively listen and participate in the discussion. It can
also lead to creative problem-solving and innovation. for example, when people express
disagreement, they may offer different perspectives and solutions to problems, which can
lead to a more informed decision-making process.

A: It also allows people to voice their concerns and opinions, which can lead to better
communication and understanding among team members. When people are able to have
open and honest discussions, it can create a sense of trust and mutual respect.

V: That's a good point. But what about when disagreements become heated or turn into
personal attacks? How can this be avoided?

A: In those cases, it's important to remember to focus on the issue at hand and not attack
the person with a different opinion. Conflict can be productive, but only when it's
respectful and constructive.

V: I completely agree. Another way disagreements can be helpful is if they lead to a

compromise or a new solution that combines different ideas. I think that disagreement is
a natural part of any group discussion, but it can be a positive force if handled correctly.
A: Overall, I think it's important to embrace disagreements as an opportunity for growth
and learning, rather than something to be avoided or feared.

V: Well said, An. I think we can both agree that disagreement can make meetings and
discussions more effective.

A: I'm hoping you'll be able solve your group's problem asap.

V: Thank you for your advice, have a good day !

8. What personal qualities should you have if you manage a group of people from
different nationalities?

V: Good afternoon, An. How are you today?

A: Good afternoon, Vy. I'm doing well, thank you. How about you?

V: I’m good but recently I have to manage the group of people from different countries
and don’t know how to do it to fulfill my responsibilities well. Do you have any advice
on what personal qualities I should have for this?

A: That's a great question. I think one of the most important qualities is cultural
awareness and sensitivity. It's important to understand and respect the different cultural
backgrounds of the people you're managing. You should have an open mind, be non-
judgmental, and be willing to learn about and understand the cultural differences of your
team members.

V: Absolutely. I also think communication skills are key. Being able to communicate
clearly and effectively with people who may speak a different language or have different
communication styles is crucial.

A: Yes, and in addition to that, I think a good manager should also be flexible and
adaptable. For example, you never know what challenges might come up when working
with people from different backgrounds, so you need to be able to quickly adjust and find
solutions. And you should be able to adapt to different working styles, cultural norms,
and values of your team members.

V: That's a great point. And I also think patience is crucial. Leading a diverse group takes
time and effort, so it's important to have patience and build relationships with each team
member individually. By doing so, you'll be able to create a more cohesive and
productive team.
A: I agree. And I think one more important quality is empathy. Being able to put yourself
in other people's shoes and understand their perspectives can help you be a better
manager and create a more positive and inclusive working environment.

V: That's a great. Ultimately, I think it's about being responsible and caring towards your
team. As a manager, you have the power to influence their work experience and career
growth, so it's important to be aware of your actions and decisions and how they affect
others. Empathy and a sense of responsibility can help you lead with integrity and build
trust with your team.

A: I agree. Managing a diverse group of people can be challenging, but with the right
personal qualities, it can also be incredibly rewarding.

V: Those are all great qualities to have. I'll keep them in my mind. Thanks for your
insight. Have a good day !

A: No problem, I'm glad to help.
