4. Choose the appropriate version for your Windows system (32-bit or 64-bit)
and click the download link. Save the installer file to your computer.
5. Run the installer: Locate the downloaded installer file (usually in your
Downloads folder) and double-click on it to run the installation.
6. Follow the installation wizard: The installation wizard will guide you through
the process. You can choose the components you want to install and the
installation location. Click "Next" and then "Install" to begin the installation.
7. Complete the installation: Once the installation is complete, you can launch
GIMP from the Start menu.
Steps:
Open GIMP:
Launch GIMP on your computer.
Open an Image: (Any JPG Image from your PC, make sure you have a
backup/original copy of this image and rename this image into “Original.jpg”.)
Click on "File" in the menu.
Select "Open" and choose an image file (for example, a JPEG image).
Understanding Resolutions
Objective: Change the resolution of an image using GIMP.
Steps:
Open an Image: (Use the same Original.jpg image from above)
Click on "File."
Select "Open" and choose the image file.
Check Image Resolution:
Click on "Image" in the menu.
Select "Print Size."
Note the current resolution (usually in inches or millimeters).
Steps:
Open an Image: (Use again the same Original.jpg image from above)
Click on "File."
Select "Open" and choose the image file.
At this point, your output should contain Four (4) image files. See below
1. Original.jpg
2. Cdt<YourLastName>.png
3. Cdt<YourLastName>-resolution.jpg
4. Cdt<YourLastName>-scaled.jpg
