Spell out the zoo animals on the white board - ask students, what kind of animals do we
see at the zoo? Kindergarten practice - have to raise your hand. Won’t take answers
until I can on them

Arrival Time - Day 1: Work on “I see Animals at the Zoo books” Letter Zoo Animal coloring page
Day 2: Trace and write the letter X. Goes into student’s mailboxes. Manipulatives at the
table once finished.
Day 3: Find the letter Xx. Goes into the student’s mailboxes. Letter X coloring sheet once
finished.

Table Time Activity Day 1: No table activity


Day 2: Write name on cover of your Count the Zoo Animals book. Color and count.

Centers - Book Area - look at a book


Sensory Table - upper and lowercase, color and zoo animal sorting
Easel - watercolor paint a zoo animal mask - Students can pick, lion, tiger, monkey,
bear, giraffe (make sure names are on the back). Check the student off the check list if
they have finished. Mask goes onto the drying rack once they are done. Will laminate
and add string at the end of the week.
Writing Center - Color, sticker, or dauber a photo.
Blue Table - Day1 - Finish Goodnight Gorilla Small group table activity - students need to
grab their school boxes - can pick 2 or 3 of the 6 animals from the story. Glue them onto
their blank page. Then color their animals. Create bars for the zoo animals in their cage.
Draw a picture of yourself as the zookeeper. Trace or write the word zoo. Name on
back. Leave in the basket Get a zoo animal sticker once done.
It’s a Zoo Game - independent. Student grabs a tray and a cup with dice, graphing
pieces and a game piece. Students will roll the dice, move as many spaces they have
rolled and add a chip on the graph for each animal that they land on. Whichever
animal has the most when the game is done, wins. Or if that animal reaches 10 before
the end of the game, that animal wins.
