a motor vechile or a trailer for Official Identification
Purposes.

The registration Number is a numeric or an alphanumeric
code that uniquely identifies the vehicle within the issuing
regions database.

ABOUT??

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is a mass
surveillance method that uses Optical Character
Recognition on images to read the license plates on
vehicles.
●
ANPR Cameras are specialized types of CCTV camera
that has software build it to help ID and capture license
plates on still and moving vehicles.
WHATS THE BASIS /
PREMISE ?

ANPR can be used to store the images captured by
cameras as well as the text from the license plate, with
some configurable to store a photograph of the driver.
●
System commonly use infraRed (IR) lighting to allow the
camera to take the picture at any time of the day. ANPR
technology tends to be region-specific, owing to plate
variation from place to place.

Tolling to Border Control and Journey Time Enforcement

The most predominantly prevalent usage of ANPR, today,
is in Electronic Toll Collection systems (ETC) / intelligent
Traffic Management Systems.

Purpose: The Automatic Number Plate Recognition is a
system designed to help in recognition of number plates of
vehicles.

Basis: This sytem is based on the image processing
system.
●
Use: This sytem helps in the functions like detection of the
number plates of vehicles,processing them and processed
data for further processing like sroring, allowing vehicles to
pass or to reject vehicle.
 Basic Functions in ANPR

Capture an optimized image of the car(S).
●
Process the optimized image to segregate & read the
license plate(s).
●
Store the recognised image in the database.
 Embedded Systems

●
The entire process of ANPR is hinged on the very basis of
a singular Embedded System -the CAMERA.
●
The Cameras forms the crux of the entire system -for
without the presense of the CAMERA.
●
The Camera forms the crux of the entire system – for
without the presence of the camera and it’s specialized
software, there will be NO recognition of those license
plates.
